    By Rasha Elass

DAMASCUS (Reuters) - Furious Syrians set fire to the Danish and Norwegian embassies on Saturday as protests over cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad showed no signs of abating despite calls for calm.

Oil giant Iran, already embroiled in a dispute with the West over its nuclear program, said it was reviewing trade ties with countries that have published such caricatures.

Chanting "God is Greatest", thousands of protesters stormed the Danish embassy, burned the Danish flag and replaced it with a flag reading "No God but Allah, Mohammad is His Prophet".

The fire badly damaged the building but no one was hurt as the embassy was closed.

Demonstrators also set the Norwegian embassy ablaze. That too was brought under control by firefighters.

Police fired teargas to disperse protesters there and also used water hoses to hold back others from storming the French embassy. Riot police were deployed to protect the U.S. mission.

Denmark has been the focus for Islamic anger because the cartoons that Muslim demonstrators find offensive, including one of the Prophet with a turban resembling a bomb, first appeared in a Danish daily.

A small Norwegian Christian newspaper was one of the first outside Denmark to publish the cartoons that have now appeared in papers in Bulgaria, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Jordan, Spain, Switzerland, Hungary, New Zealand, Norway and Poland.

    WARNING

Denmark's envoy to Damascus, Ole Egberg Mikkelsen, said he tried to warn Syrian authorities about the protest.

"I personally told the authorities that a big demonstration was brewing and several times during the morning I requested the authorities ensure the necessary protection of the embassy," Mikkelsen told Ritzau news agency. Continued ...

You don't? C'mon...each of these liberal societies will find a way to blame themselves for not censoring their own free speech. It can't be the fault of the rioters! As proven by many leftists on this very board...rioters are never wrong! It is ALWAYS someone elses' fault. It is how they think and why they will not continue as societies...Do you really think, at the current rate, that "France" will be French in 30 years?

Re: EMBASSIES TORCHED as CARTOON FUROR GROWS

I say again. Let the Muslims reflect upon how they feel about disrespect,
insults and deriding their religious beliefs.
Then, turn that same strong emotion and feeling toward respecting the
right of EVERY individual to choose to pursue their PERSONAL spirituality,
religion, as they see fit; not the choioce of conversion or the sword!

Instead of the Iraqi CHristians now being in ever greater fear they should
feel protected by the Muslims who claim to be so benevolent and respectful
of other human beings. Why is there this contradiction? What makes them
think that what is right for them is right for others?

Better not come and start that heavy handed pillaging, destruction and bodily
harm of people here. Don't misread us, misunderstand us and be mislead
to think that we're we will be abused and pushed around, just because
we have some basic disagreements. Our patriot tendencies are alive
and well. We are STILL a sleeping giant, as compared to what the
    world has seen heretofore.

We are American, first and last. Attack us in our homeland and you
will have never known before or hence a worse and more fierce foe.
Any faction that does will deeply regret it and suffer unbelieveable
    retribution.

In our early colonial days there was a flag with the words on it:
"Don't tread on me". Those words still stand today against tyrannist
and tyrants who would seek to engage us.

For a motto we had when I was a Boy-Scout: "be prepared"; two words,
but says it all. So take heed America. Before the storm comes to where
you're at, in the distance you will often hear the warning of the Thunder!
There is Thunder heard in the distance now...

At least the Jim Davis' "Garfield" riots of 1988 were not responsible for WW3.

The "national fabric" of France has been worn pretty thin. They have been
seriously infiltrated by "the horde", probably of which two-thirds are the
rabid fanatics that like to attend the terrorists training camps and listen
to the Imam that spout hatred and vindictiness toward all whom are
NOT Muslim. From what source do you think they get all stirred up,
riled up? Isn't it obvious that another weapon of mass destruction is
Muslim mind control? It is all designed to keep the Imams in power and
authority and assure them of the continuation of one of the better
positions in Muslim society. Stay clear of a lot of the Mosques after
Friday prayers, especially if you are a Christian or Jew.

A grear deal of these Imams Don't preach tolerance or respect of the
rights of others to determine their individual religious and spiritual
preferences. Their philosophy is: a sword, placed on the neck of
the individual; convert to Islam or lose your head. There is NO negoation
    to the matter.

And the overall message to the rest of us is that they are spreading
Islam in all of it's dominance and inflexible practices over the entire world.

And answer this: how is it rational, reasonable, to suggest that the
Rioters are acting sane, sensible, by destroying the property of and
harming human beings that have nothing to do with the design or
posting of the cartoons? I think rioters like this just add addditional
emphasis to the bigotry and prejudice of such media.

To me, they're nothing more than like a dismissed or disgruntled postal worker
that caused everbody present to have a bad day at the Post Office, the
day they lost it over their personal issues and went there to settle the
    score.

    All right...a couple of things...

Because of the "progressive liberal" nature of Europe, they will be destroyed from within by Islam because they are unable, unwilling to break out of their politically correct stupor. You know, the one that prevents things--important things--from being discussed. At all. The one that forces them to APOLOGIZE to rioters for conditions, while paying all their bills through social programs. The 'French', like the white race everywhere, are not reproducing at a rate necessary to sustain existence. Since the Islamicists refuse to learn French, who will be speaking it? Who will be 'French' in 100 years?

Re: EMBASSIES TORCHED as CARTOON FUROR GROWS

    pwrone,

Perhaps you missed my satirical diatribe on the "peaceful" muslim working at your local 7-11. Those with their own twisted agendas or other ulterior motives will continue to try to push this image. BS!!

Obviously no one in power has an inkling of balls to stand up and say what many of us are thinking: F@#k muslim sensitivities!! This is our country and we will run it the way we want and we will not bow down to artificially inflamed passions, or some misguided attempt to generate self hatred in our American people for our own economic, social, and military dominance. I am an African American male and that would be like black people continuing to blame white people for our problems and trying to make white people feel guilty for being the white majority and for problems from the past. Thats BS too!

This is simply a sad excuse to justify uncivilized animalistic behavior. Muslim logic: "I'm angry and offended because of something you did or said in your western newspaper and now I'm going to blow up a building and kill innocent people and you are to blame for my actions."

My solution: put 50,000 tanks in western africa, 200,000 troops behind them, and send in waves of fighter jets, then gun ships, and start advancing and not stopping until we get to south korea. And you can throw in a pocket nuke here and there for good measure.

If muslims envision a world without any other people, maybe we ought to start planning for a world without muslims. If they want to be martyrs and blow themselves up to get to the 72 virgins maybe we ought to help them there, pronto! Extreme? yes, but it is better than seeing country after country fall to pressure from, God forbid, an offended muslim! We're so sorry we offended you mr ahmed, how pitiful we are for not recognizing your religious superiority over us.

You can offend Jesus, Moses, Budha, and whoever else but shame on us for practicing free speech in our own country. Biiiiiiaaaaatttchhhhhh Puuuulllllllleeeeeeeeesssssseeee!!!

    Coontie,

Sorry, still lost. What does France have to do with anything?

    prwone,

    1) Europe is not going to be "destroyed" by Islam.
    2) I'm not aware that Europe apologized to any rioters for anything. The newspaper responsible for publishing the cartoon in question is not "Europe" or "France".
    3) I'm sure the French are procreating just fine.
    4) The French are not going to be speaking Arabic in 100 years.

    Keep it together.

    Get a grip...

    1) Europe does not HAVE to be destroyed by Islam, but they certainly can be.
    2) France dropped to their knees and actually licked the last bunch of rioters. And if you do not think the newspaper that published the cartoon "is Europe", you might have stepped up and informed not only the other European newspapers who published it to assert their free speech rights(now, possibly, regretfully)but also the rioters themselves, who seem to be burning embassies and not newspapers.
    3) "Just fine" is a term open to interpretation...after all, the Islamics in France are French. However, if you are talking about white Europeans, they are NOT doing just fine in that area.
    4) I have a feeling that we will be able to definitively answer this one sooner rather than later.

    From the TELEGRAPH, U.K.

France is facing the problem that dare not speak its name. Though French law prohibits the census from any reference to ethnic background or religion, many demographers estimate that as much as 20-30 per cent of the population under 25 is now Muslim. The streets, the traditional haunt of younger people, now belong to Muslim youths. In France, the phrase "les jeunes" is a politically correct way of referring to young Muslims.

Given current birth rates, it is not impossible that in 25 years France will have a Muslim majority. The consequences are dynamic: is it possible that secular France might become an Islamic state?

The situation is not dissimilar elsewhere in the EU. Europeans may at some young point in the 21st century have to decide whether they wish to retain the diluted but traditional Judaeo-Christian culture of their minority or have it replaced by the Islamic culture of the majority.

    http://opinion.telegraph.co.uk/opini.../26/do2601.xml

    ************************************************** *****
The above highlighted sentences reveal why it is so hard to care what happens to them...sadly, that kind of p.c. stupidity is the aim of our own liberals.
