Check out rev.al trying to brew up a racist angle...unbelievable...but it is okay because he is a democrat--no one would DARE say..."uh, al...WTF?"

Bloomberg, Toussaint In All Out Prize FightWar Of Words Takes Center Stage

(CBS) NEW YORK They punched and counter punched. Two political heavyweights who turned the transit strike into their own boxing match Wednesday. It got ugly. It got personal.

It was day two of what the mayor called the "illegal selfish strike of 2005."

Michael Bloomberg and Transport Workers Union President Roger Toussaint suddenly became the Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier of the strike world, letting an escalating war of words distract from the fact that the world's largest mass transit system has been brought to a screeching halt.

"I would say this to Mayor Bloomberg: Why would you characterize the transit workers who comprise 60 percent of the responders to the World Trade Center disaster as thugs?" Transport Workers Union President Roger Toussaint said.

Bloomberg sounded out his all-too-familiar battle cry.

"This strike is illegal. You're breaking the law and I don't know how you explain it to your kids," Bloomberg said. "What frauds this really is, if you think about it, they claim to be the champions of working families when the illegal actions
that they are taking are costing New Yorkers their livelihoods."

Even the Rev. Al Sharpton got into the act, playing the race card.

"This kind of rhetoric only exacerbates tensions," Sharpton said.

He then stuck up for Toussaint in the face of the Bloomberg onslaught.

"The mayor has accused the union of being selfish, shameful and disrespectful, since he's made himself a major figure in this," Sharpton said. "Since he's now become a chief cheerleader using the kind of language in the hope that he will lead the sides back to the table."

But for the Mayor, it all comes back to the fact that the transit worker has illegally walked off the job.

"This is a strike that is deliberately designed to take place at a time when it can hurt the most people the quickest ," Bloomberg said. "It is just unconscionable."

Sharpton charged the Mayor didn’t use such language against the fire department, which is 90-percent white, though
the fire department never walked off the job.

Mayoral spokesman Ed Skyler said all the back and forth in the world won't reverse the damage caused to the city by the strike.

It's not fun having the government threaten to take away your pension.
