Stamps.com - another scam???
I signed up for Stamps.com. Afterwards, the software locked up my pc and wouldn't work. I decided to cancel the trial membership. Now I call their cancellation number and they don't answer (1-888-434-0055).
I followed up by looking at their rating on the BBB and they have an "F" rating - just lovely!!!
Anyone know of another way to cancel?

Re: Stamps.com - another scam???
I think you can cancel via email too. I had a balance in my account of $47 when I cancelled, and they told me that they would send me a refund check. Its been like 2 years and they still haven't sent it, I must have emailed them about 40 times!

Re: Stamps.com - another scam???
I've been trying to cancel via email too. I've sent emails online (generated by their site) and to [email protected], [email protected], and [email protected] - still no reply.
I've even asked GiftFiesta, whom I did the offer through, to help me cancel (haven't heard from them either).
I contacted my credit card company and told them not to process any charges from them because it was a trial and I am not able to cancel.
Well moral of the story is: Unless you want great amounts of grief trying to cancel, DO NOT use stamps.com.

Re: Stamps.com - another scam???
i never have good success canceling stamps.com b/c you can't get in touch with them. That's why i use gift cards or paypal to sign up with these offers. If there isn't enough in my account, it don't get charged and i don't have an overcharge fee.

Re: Stamps.com - another scam???
Oh, they just WANT to make it difficult to cancel so they can get your $$$. They sent me this email:
Hello
We are sorry to hear that you wish to close your Stamps.com account.
We are unable to close accounts via e-mail due to privacy and security
reasons. However, we would be glad to provide you with the necessary
assistance by phone.
To close your account, please call us toll free at 1-888-434-0055 and
select Option 1. One of our representatives will be glad to assist you.
Our operating hours are Monday through Friday, 6 AM to 6 PM Pacific
(except holidays).
Assisting you by phone allows us to verify the necessary security
information to close your account. It also allows us to confirm
specific account information required to perform important processes
such as sending refund checks for unused purchased postage.
If there is anything we can do to help you to continue utilizing our
services and features, please do not hesitate to let us know.

Sure - you can cancel by phone if anyone ever ANSWERS the freakin phone!!! There is no reason whatsoever that they can't cancel via the email that I signed up with. Yep - in my book they're a scam.

Re: Stamps.com - another scam???
Well, when i went to cancel. I was put on hold for 30-40 minutes. That is the average wait time for them, because I ended up having to call them twice. BTW: their 30 day free trial is only lke 27 days; so if you call on the 30th day you are already in your second billing period and you owe 2 months worth. I ended up disputing the charges , but they would only eliminate the one. Worst customer service

Re: Stamps.com - another scam???
Wow,
I had no idea they were like this at stamps.com I've had my account for over a year now and I'd give them an A+
Every time I've lost a package, I've received the check within 2 weeks.
Now that click-N-Ship is here, I was ready to cancel, but seeing the problems you all are having, I don't think it's worth the trouble.
Anyway, they've been more helpful with lost packages then the post office has.
I feel like I got scammed by the post office myself. When I turned in a claim for an $85.00 item, they lost my info and I never got paid back...win some lose some I guess.

I am currently on the phone with them, I think i'm going to call on my cell phone and act like a new member to see how long it takes to receive an "anylist"...

Re: Stamps.com - another scam???
If stamps.com steps too far out of line, the postal service will get them.

Re: Stamps.com - another scam???
Ok another threatening letter says I owe them money. Mind you I took care of this on Nov 1st. So another 50 minute wait on the phone to resolve this. They claim that the payment notice never got sent to the accounting department even though the computer says i am all paid up. The accounting department apparently has no access to accounts.... So be wary to use Stamps as an offer

Anyone used Stamps.com to meet a required trial?
Do you initially have to put out any money to them, and are they easy to cancel if you dont like it? How was your experience? Thanks

Somehow, I think once you've bought the stamps, you're stuck with them.
