    WiFi Solver FDTD on PC

with this app, you can use a floor plan of your house to determine the position of a wireless router and simulate how the electromagnetic waves propagate. See an example here:
This is based on a recently published blog entry 39Helmhurts, which featured on Aro Technica, the Daily Mail Scientific American, and many other blogs.
This app uses the 2D finite difference time domain method to WiFi Solver FDTD on PCsolve the Maxwell39s equation in a Cartesian grid. An example floor plan is included in the app.
    How to use:
Your floor plan must be a PNG file, with the empty area highlighted in black and the materials highlighted in color. Images are converted to the right materials when loaded. This may take a few seconds.
Pixels are mapped to 1 centimeter and scale the floor plan accordingly.
The speed of the simulation is limited due to the mobile processor. Try to keep pictures under about 500 x 500 pixels
Touch the image to specify a router location marked by a red circle. Select the antenna parameters below.
Specify the number of iterations to be executed, how often the result should be plotted, and the upper limit of the color gamut.
Select a field in which to display the standard.
Click Run, and the simulation begins. Click Stop to stop at any time. This saves the simulation progress, which can be resumed by clicking Run again. To reset a picture, open a picture again.
To save the simulation output as an image, click Save at any time. Images are stored in internal memory and added at the end of the camera roll.
To start recording a simulation, click the Record 39R39 button. When the simulation pauses, a GIF animation is created.
    Under the hood:
An antenna oscillates at 2.4 GHz. The image borders use absorbing boundary conditions as in Mur 1981 IEEE Transactions on Electromagnetic Compatibility.
