    Yes, Trump needs to clean up the sh*t that O'bama left behind.

    It's using poor judgement on when to protest. Just like people stealing, burning down buildings and beating people up etc when they want to make a statement and protest. Do it the right way for pete's sake. Not showing respect for your country is a sad way to protest. These players are showing they have hate for their country, very disrespectful, rude and down right wrong The NFL needs to make a rule against doing this. Rich NFL football players wanting to stir up trouble is what you have going on. Dumb dumb dumb...They're doing more harm than good for their cause.

    Kinda like those people in the colonies were doing back in the 1760's and early 1770's?

    The NFL needs to make a rule against doing this.
    Are you aware the the US Supreme Court ruled a few decades ago the children in public schools do not have to stand nor take part in the 'Pledge of Allegiance'?

    Are you aware that the US Supreme Court overturned a law that penalized people for burning the US Flag in protest also?

    Something to do with the whole 'Freedom of Speech' bit in the 'First Amendment'.

    If you don't like what the NFL guys are doing, change the freaking channel. And quit buying tickets for their games and buying their merchandise.

    Of course, we could just make Trump king and then we all will have to kneel.

    Oh, and here's a rather disturbing historical tidbit.

    Bellamy salute (Wiki);
    The Bellamy salute is a salute described by Francis Bellamy, the author of the American Pledge of Allegiance, as the gesture which was to accompany the pledge. During the period when it was used with the Pledge of Allegiance, it was sometimes known as the "flag salute". Both the Pledge and its salute originated in 1892. Later, during the 1920s and 1930s, Italian fascists and Nazis adopted a salute which was very similar, and which was derived from the Roman salute, a gesture that was popularly (albeit erroneously) believed to have been used in ancient Rome. This resulted in controversy over the use of the Bellamy salute in the United States. It was officially replaced by the hand-over-heart salute when Congress amended the Flag Code on December 22, 1942.

    War, you mean war? Hopefully in 2017 we can protest without going to war. Without violence.

    Are you aware the the US Supreme Court ruled a few decades ago the children in public schools do not have to stand nor take part in the 'Pledge of Allegiance'?
    I'm not sure what States go along with this, looks like Missouri doesn't. Ways to get around it. http://www.komu.com/news/new-missour...-requirements/ Sorry I see now the students do not have to say the Pledge if they don't want to. Wonder if they have to stand?
    Are you aware that the US Supreme Court overturned a law that penalized people for burning the US Flag in protest also?
    Yes I am aware of this and thank goodness the burning of our flag seldom happens. Don't give these NFL footplayers a new idea for gaining attention, they'll be burning our flag next.
    Something to do with the whole 'Freedom of Speech' bit in the 'First Amendment'.
    Yes it's all to do with the First Amendment but sometimes our society just doesn't agree with certain laws and we makes new laws to overturn other laws.

    No Nomaxim, I love NFL football and don't choose not to watch it or spend money that goes toward the game. Hopefully enough people will share how they feel and the players will decide to protest their cause in a different way. We'll see what happens. Possibly it will end up going the other way and they can sit through the anthem, kneel, whatever and nobody will care. Not caring would most likely get them to stand and protest in another way. Maybe we all just need to shut up about it. After all they're just after attention and that's what they're getting. The wrong way though.

    Of course, we could just make Trump king and then we all will have to kneel.
    I liked that one. lol

    Forgot to point out the NFL is a private business and owners have the right to ask their players to do certain things. A lot of money is involved with the NFL and the military benefits, like with fly overs.

    I've seen this, it's amazing how things change and just looking back a few years sometimes is shocking. Hopefully our problems with racism etc will improve in time, it's obviously a difficult task to achieve.

    Umm, the Revolutionary War didn't start until 1775. I'm referring to all those British citizens (prior to 4JUL1776) that protested against their government and their King.
    Do you consider Benjamin Franklin, John Hancock, John Adams, etc.. to have been 'sad' protesters?
    They were mainly carrying on about treated unfairly after all.

    Well, your article does state;
    students will not be required to say it.
    Nor would they be required to stand, SCOTUS rulings overrule State laws and State courts.
    Basically, forcing people to stand and say the 'Pledge of Allegiance' has been ruled to be unconstitutional.

    Why would they want to burn the flag?
    Think of it this way. They are kneeling in the way that a subject would kneel to their King. Or perhaps as a slave would kneel to their master.

    Yes it's all to do with the First Amendment but sometimes our society just doesn't agree with certain laws and we makes new laws to overturn other laws.
    Unfortunately, the US Congress can not change the Constitution on its own. Changes to the Constitution require the ratification of 2/3's (33) of the State legislatures (your State Senators and Representatives). Some states (Ohio is one) can even force any such change to a general vote.
    Also see the above in reference to the SCOTUS ruling on laws being 'unconstitutional'.

    Actually, from what I've been reading the entire kneeling thing was pretty much a dead issue, no one or only a few, were planning on doing it this season. Until till some moron started tweeting and whining about it that is.

    Yes, the owners do have that right. MLB does it. However, what happens if a baseball player[s] challenges that in court?

    Oh, and the fly-overs are paid for with taxpayer money. The cost varies with the type of aircraft. A single F-22 fighter costs around $58,000 per hour to operate.

    I intended to say the owners make money off of the flyovers. Pointing out maybe the players should think twice about the way they're protesting. The Military uses the games as a way to advertise for recruits.
