I just had a buyer try to scam a return. It seems like there's more and more scams happening on ebay. I would disclose the information and save the seller a month of headache.

There are tons of scams on Ebay. You just have to be careful. Find a high rated buyer with a large amount of good feedback, 1000+ sales with 97% positive feedback at least is my rule of thumb. NEVER buy anything that ships from China. Only buy if there is a return policy. Most legitimate sellers won't risk their reputation by selling clones or Chinese ripoffs, unless they specify that it is (read the description carefully). Also, all purchases are insured by eBay buyer protection. Ebay will refund your money if you don't receive the item, even if the seller wont. I have never had any problems in the 7+ years I've been buying and selling on ebay. It's really pretty simple. Most sellers are legitimate companies that buy in bulk and therefore sell at slightly lower prices. If you use good judgement then you'll be alright.

The thing that chaps me about this the most is that ebay and paypal both take a huge fee in the name of security and insuring sellers and buyers from scams. Yet they allow these scams to happen constantly and let the sellers eat it.

If you persist though ebay may side with you. I jad a different but semi similar case. Sent a package and the buyer said they never got it, fortunetely i bought delivery confirmation and it was recorded as delivered. Ebay said its not their fault they never got the package and its on me, they refunded the buyers money instantly.

I asked them what on earth i could do differently, i shipped the package, through their shipping service and was paid via their paypal service and the package was delivered. i had to talk to a manager and they refunded the buyer and me. It wasnt much money, like $25 i think. But still.

yeah from a seller's perspective, anything like ebay or aliexpress (let alone paypal) is absolute shit, no questions. but from a buyer's perspective, WU or credit card payment makes **them** extremely vulnerable for scams, even if the seller is trusted, even if he sent out QC pics or something, there's always a chance.

I am curious - what sort of scams impact sellers? As a buyer, I see many counterfeit designer bags on eBay, so I avoid it for that reason.

Has anyone used powerstations Stuff to sell mid- to high-end handbags? Experiences? Also looking at Tradesy. I'm hesitant to use eBay because they're so buyer-centric that it leaves sellers vulnerable to scams. I'm looking for ease of use as well as getting a good rate of return. Thanks!

I sold a laptop on eBay. I get a message from the buyer claiming that the DVD drive was missing. "That's impossible", I said to myself, "it's in the pictures. Surely this is a scam".

I decided to give myself some time to think about a reply. Then I went to my home office to pack some other stuff, and looked on the floor, and there was a DVD drive. The laptop has one of those "ultrabay" type drives where you can swap drives, and I guess I somehow accidentally hit the button to eject it, it slid out, and I didn't notice while packing.

Lessons: Not all customer complaints are scams, and check your shit before you pack it.

I've sold expensive guitars off eBay and never had any problems. I take PayPal only and eBay and PayPal have protections in place to help both buyer and seller avoid scams.

Do what you can to prevent scams. Turn on buyer restrictions.

Sell small items so that you may absorb the cost of scammed items.

For valuable items do cash only local sales.

If you must sell on EBay for expensive items, keep good records of serial numbers. Keep all photos of item. Take photos before and after packaging, even video if it's something you are really concerned about losing.

You can do many things to prevent scams but sometimes it happens no matter what u do to prevent. Accept it as a cost of doing business and write it off on your taxes, move forward and sell more stuff!

I require a minimum feedback like 20 and all positives for sales like this. Even still, I'll get a bunch of lame ass 0 and 1 feedback buyers (which are obvious scams). When this happens I go to a little known feature and cancel their last bid.

    offer.ebay.com/ws/eBaylSAPl.dll?CancelbidShow

Also ship with registered mail. Buyer pays shipping of course. :)

Using that method, I've never been scammed.

    Re: Ebay Buyer scammer List

You're going to encounter many more scams. So you know, eBay doesn't work like this buyer suggested. You don't give someone your email address so that eBay can contact you. eBay doesn't do that and the email you receive will have been sent by the scammer. You purchase directly on eBay's website. The second message you received from them, the whole "warehouse" thing, is never real. There is never a warehouse and there is never a real "you have 5 days to inspect" a purchase in any instance ever. Absolutely anyone who makes any statements that reflect the above is a scammer. Also, anyone who responds to your query with their life story or irrelevant personal details (I'm divorced/in the military/overseas doing the good Lord's work) is a scammer, too.

Hello there, this is me. I am a little curious as to what I did because honestly I don't remember you. I am however sure that I have never scammed anyone. Are you the person who sold the iphone as clean esn and icloud unlocked and neither were true? Just because its a parts sale doesn't mean the description doesn't have to match the product. But if by chance I did do something wrong just post it and be precise and I will hook you up with some compensation. I am not above making mistakes by no means but I certainly have no need to scam anyone. I have hundreds of sales over years and never have had any issues with ebay. So just let me know, and I hope you aren't someone just complaining because you couldn't pull one over on me. I run into a lot of sellers who post things for parts and think they can describe it however they want because they put no returns. Just to let the others know, I purchase broken electronics for repair and resell. I am curious to see what purchase this was. Thanks for the time and to everyone else out there, just because people write stuff like this doesn't make it true... but I'm sure most people know that.

Never sold anything on ebay except buying through different means of payments and I don't think that there might be any problem with selling too. Most of the services that they provide are simply secured and chances of mistakes are negligible.

I always use a credit card to insure myself with online puchases. As soon as I hear or see the words Western Union - game over.
