I am really shocked to see such a scam exist. Thanks for the info. I would be really greatful if some one can provide me more information on these scams.

    Thanks for the info.
There is a problem with your website Swami. Actually your web site looks great, but SOME of the employers advertising there are blacklisted and offer illegal jobs, like Monkey Tree for one which does not give Z visa support for the first 90 days.TO LEGALLY WORK IN CHINA YOU MUST HAVE A WORK VISA (Z Visa) FROM DAY ONE OR YOU WILL BE ARRESTED AND DEPORTED WITH A CRIMINAL RECORD WHEN CAUGHT.

Seriously, you should require all of your employers to state whether they provide Z visa support from the onset, and teachers should not even reply to ads that do not say this right up front.

2018 Official China Foreign Teacher Qualifications and Requirements for China TEFL Jobs.

    http://www.eslbase.com/forum/viewtop...each-esl-tefl/.

They just keep get more strict every year and soon nobody will bother to jump through their hoops any more.

    SOURCE: https://eslwatch.info/en/eslwatch-fo...hina/1834.html

2018 brings ESL & TEFL Teachers even stricter credential requirements from the Chinese government to teach English in China. This is due to a growing number of arrests and “incidents” by fake teachers caught using fake diplomas and/or TEFL certificates. So the Public Security Bureau of China and SAFEA have decided upon adding some more restrictions in their foreign teacher requirements as follows:

    1) Applicants must now be native English speakers holding passports from America, Canada, U.K. Australia, New Zealand, or South Africa.

    2) Applicants must be 22-55 at time of application (you can teach up to age 60 in China)

    3) Applicants must have a verifiable bachelor degree from an accredited university (and yes they do check now)

    4) Applicants must have 2 years of previous teaching experience OR a post-graduate degree

    5) Applicants must submit a certified hard copy original police certificate proving they have no criminal record

    6) You must be disease-free and obtain a health certificate

    7) You must have a legitimate Z visa (work visa) in your passport before working a single day in China

Do not believe any recruiter BS that the law has been amended or they have an “exemption certificates” or “you do not need a Z visa or any degree for your first 90 day probationary period” or any of these other common lies: https://www.reddit.com/r/ChinaScamCe...qw&sh=b8e001e5

If you have questions read this forum thoroughly and visit http://reddit.com/r/chinateachers or http://www.chinascambusters.com , or http://chinascamwatch.org .

If you are a qualified teacher, by all means welcome to China. If you think you can sneak in and work without a degree or Z visa, you had better read this here: http://opnlttr.com/letter/china-fore...aking-many-new

I don't see how anyone can bad-mouth the CFTU when they are the only ones giving out VPN's like candy! People need to show some more respect!

Sometimes I get the feeling that China's officials want less and less foreign teachers in China so they keeping making the standards and qualifications higher and higher, or they are simply trying to weed out all the fake teachers. I am not sure which. https://www.scam.com/showthread.php?...ACKLIST/page18

SinoJ aka SinoEdu School Chain Scams Teachers & Students in Beijing, China

SinoEdu aka SinoJ China English School Chain Scam
Exploits & Cheats Teachers & Students

This is a Chinese-owned private school chain that falsely tells Chinese mothers that they are part of "American joint venture". This is a lie. They also do not have a SAIC business license and are not authorized nor registered with SAFEA which means they illegally hire foreign teachers and although they promise to give the foreign teachers a work visa (Z Visa) they cannot. That is one 47 of their 150 teachers were arrested and deported in 2016.

But even if you do not get caught working there by the PSB (a 50/50 chance) Their pay is one of the lowest and their contract is a one-way lopsided agreement. Foreign teachers are hired to work 39 hours a week so they do not have to be given benefits, overtime pay, vacation pay, bonuses, housing subsidy etc. It short they take all and give none. I just had lunch with two teachers who work at one of their 4 Beijing locations. Only Hampson and Best Learning have higher turnover rates.

This SinoEdu operation will soon be shut down because 3 parents filed complaints with the Public Security Bureau just recently when they found out all the "American Teachers" are fake - from Eastern Europe mostly. They had their run and parents should be asking for refunds now while their bank account is still open and flush.

Less than 5% of their "teachers" ever taught anything before coming to China.

What difference does it make? The reality is that good teachers and those who would protect them are set upon from all sides by soy boys, scumbags, and bash & trash expats.

They choose to bite the hand that feeds them, the CFTU, for flimsy promises of a better life from the recruiters. The last time I tried to speak favorably about the CFTU (based on personal experience) I was gang raped and falsely reported on the TEFL sub by a brigade of recruiters who succeeded to get me and maybe six others banned from Reddit.

I would like to warn you about the school ZHONGSHEN RING A BELL in Liangyungang, Jiangsu province.
They promise you good salaries, nice apartments, training and support.
You won't receive anything they promise you.

They put you in dirty apartments with broken aircons / tvs etc.
They claim you have to work 4 full weeks before payment (fair enough), but then they say those four weeks only count if you start teaching on the very first day of the month, then they tell you something else like 'actually, you haven't worked here for 4 weeks' or some other excuse.

The director just seems to wear a badge, as every action needs to be authorized by head office, who are always too busy to answer phone calls or make decisions, so everyone is in limbo.

After 5 unhappy weeks in the school and in the city, I decided to resign. My contract states that I can resign, work my 30 days notice and leave. I wrote my resignation letter, my boss 'okay'ed this IN WRITING. Once I received the approval things turned sour.

I was immediately suspended from teaching, deleted from all teaching groups on WeChat and told that if I wanted to take my holiday and visit my family, I should go now. I was happy to do this, the school was closing for a week anyway, but then the following message said that I should pack up my apartment and hand back the keys to the teacher/admin assistant. This was a red flag for me. I packed everything. Handed back everything I had borrowed from the school and all of my materials, handed back the keys and within 48 hours I was on a flight home.

Once I was home, the nasty emails began. Threats saying the company were going to sue me, take me to court. Messages saying the company were furious with me for trying to trick them, scam them (out of what, I still don't know).

The list of abuse goes on and on, I have numerous emails saved which highlight how unprofessional the company is. How they refuse to stick to the contract. Refusing to pay me. Accusing me of vandalism, ruining the reputation of the company... it goes on.

I've been home for 8 weeks now and I have not been paid anything. The company have broke at least 6 rules stated in my contract, but they don't care. They know that because they are in China, they will get away with it and in the end I lose out on a lot of money. But at least now I'm home safe and away from the worst company I have ever worked for.

I can only hope no one else makes the same mistake that I did.
This is NOT the company you want to work for. There are hundreds of genuine companies with decent managers and staff, but this is not one of them.

ZHONG SHEN RING A BELL. LIANYUNGANG. JIANGSU.
    AVOID IT!

WARNING!! Tianhe College of Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University / Guangzhou

I just finished my contract at one the worst schools I've ever worked for there are so many problems about this school there is basically nothing positive to say about it.
The full name of this university is Tianhe College of Guandong Polytechnic Normal University. This is easily the worst University to work for in Guangzhou when I first I arrived I thought it was in the Tianhe district but they never actually told me where it was. I found it's located in the Baiyun District almost 45 minutes from the nearest subway station. There are trash trucks that drive by until late in the night and the entire smells like trash because the school located near the second largest garbage dump in China.

The apartment was just terrible they didn't even clean it and there was black stuff near all the windows. I did have a western toilet but seat wasn't even attached the toilet bowl didn't have a top. This is absolutely the worst apartment I've ever had in my life. I'll also add the apartment is right next to the road so yes trash trucks drive until really late night.
There are only two buses you can take to leave the school but they only depart in 30 minute frequencies and it's incredibly over crowded just outrageous you can never really go out and last bus leaves Tianhe Coach Terminal at 9:00 PM. The classrooms suck the computers work sometimes other times it can take 10 minutes to get it to work. It even got to a point that one time I went the night before and had someone replace the monitor. The next morning I arrive in class and realize someone came back and put in the old monitor and my students final exams were delayed for 15 minutes waiting for someone to fix the computer again.
A lot of the students are lazy, they don't try, and they don't want a challenge. They'll complain if you make things too difficult for them or even push them a little then the administration will will basically tell you to just let them play games or let them do what they want. There were several times when students didn't do their work and I gave them no credit they complained and the administrators pressured me to give them more time to do it. It's basically just a scam to make money for the school to make money.
The students hate living here and I don't blame them it's just a horrible place do NOT teach here. I didn't do my research on it and I payed the price for it. I will say that they usually paid me on time and my payments were usually the correct amount. But if you get an offer teach at Tianhe College of Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University don't do it. Do not go unless you enjoy the smell of trash.
