Learn to Speak Chinese....you WILL need it

Liberals are still crying over deposing a mass-murdering dictator and establishing democracy in the middle-east. Think they will let us deal with THIS situation? They will drop their pants as always and we will all go with 'em.

    China Signals War

Will the world learn from history?

    By Michael Scroccaro
Special to The Epoch Times Oct 31, 2005

Chinese soldiers during a military drill on September 23, 2005 in Chongqing Municipality, China. (China Photos/Getty Images)
High-resolution image (594 x 384 px, 300 dpi) “In the 1930s, Hitler told us what he was going to do and we ignored it for years and years and years. In the 1990s, the terrorists told us what they were going to do and we ignored it.” - Rudolph Giuliani, January 27, 2002

If those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it, then the West may be doomed yet again to face another brutal and well-armed tyranny that is strategically aligned with Russia, persecutes its own people, and threatens its neighbors under the guise of “reunification.”

In communist China, people by the thousands are persecuted and jailed for their religious beliefs, their ethnicity, their words and their deeds. In recent years, China has twice declared the United States its “main enemy.” In 1994, a top Chinese general said; “Facing blatant interference from the American hegemonists in our internal affairs… and subverting our socialist system, we must reinforce our armed forces more intensively.” And, in 1998, a Chinese Defense White Paper boldly stated that China should “lead the world into the twenty-first century.”

In the 1930’s and 40’s, Americans learned about the world through movie house newsreels. It is understandable that the Nazi regime’s true nature could remain a mystery until it was too late and the world found itself at war. Today, anybody can find out what is happening inside of communist China with a handful of keystrokes on a home computer, and every journalist and network news agency has instant access to world events within seconds.

So, why is the West ignoring the signs and lessons of history yet again? Could it be that the news out of China is not clear or compelling enough to grasp our attention?

On July 14, 2005, a top Chinese general threatened nuclear war against the United States, noting that China would destroy “hundreds of cities” in America if the U.S. honors its commitment to defend Taiwan against a Chinese attack:

“…we will have to respond (to the U.S. defense of Taiwan) with nuclear weapons.” “ the Americans will have to be prepared that hundreds of (their) cities will be destroyed by the Chinese.”

That was not the first time China threatened the U.S. with nuclear war, nor the second. It was the third.

On July 4, 2005, China and Russia unveiled their joint plan for a “New World Order,” detailing their intention to re-shape everything from the world’s economy to the rule of law to individual countries’ military structures. This new agreement represents the most significant Sino-Russian alliance since before the days of Khrushchev and Mao Zedong.

In August of 2005, China and Russia held their first-ever joint military exercises, signaling a profound strengthening of their military relationship. China used diplomatic doublespeak to explain the exercises, saying their purpose was to train China’s military to counter “terrorism.” China failed to clarify whether its anti-submarine warship or its amphibious landing exercises were designed to deal with the naval forces of Islamic Jihad, Al Qa’ida or any other land-locked terrorist group.

Earlier this year, a Pentagon report estimated that China’s military spending is actually triple its declared $30-billion, prompting U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld to ask aloud, “Since no nation threatens China, one must wonder: Why this growing investment? Why these continuing large and expanding arms purchases?”

The answer to Mr. Rumsfeld’s wry question can be found in China’s clear language and unmistakable actions over the past number of years. China has:

Twice declared America its main enemy •
Cited America’s implied threat to Chinese socialism as the rationale for “intensively” reinforced armament •
Stated that China should “lead the world” •
Threatened nuclear war against the United States three times •
Joined Russia in declaring a “New World Order” •
Held its first-ever joint military exercises with Russia, and •
Covertly ratcheted up its defense spending, without having a single natural enemy in the world
Did the West have this clear a warning from the Third Reich before 50 million people died in World War 2?

In 1946, Winston Churchill said, “There was never a war (WWII) in all history easier to prevent by timely action… but no one would listen… we surely must not let that happen again.”

If the West fails to heed Churchill’s warning yet again, history may not just repeat itself, it may very well outdo itself.

The Epoch Times: "A Fresh Look at Our Changing World"

    Our Mission
The Epoch Times is an independent voice in print and on the web. We report news responsibly and truthfully so that readers can improve their own lives and increase their understanding and respect for their neighbors next door and around the globe. In our approach and in our content, we uphold universal human values, rights, and freedoms. We are a business that puts our readers' interests first, in all that we do.

    Who We Are
The Epoch Times is a privately held news media company. The center is in New York, but our network of local reporters throughout the world uncovers stories that are authentically local, yet also globally relevant. Our independence enables us to report widely and present a diversity of opinions.

    Our Purpose
During a time when the world is changing ever more quickly, people need reliable information to understand events and trends. We strive to make a positive impact on people's lives by helping all people understand the world and themselves, and to respect and appreciate each other. We report stories and air opinions unavailable elsewhere.

A special strength of the Epoch Times is our coverage of China. Today the world is increasingly looking to China, as this troubled giant goes through tremendous changes. Business and political leaders, and also world citizens, want to understand better what is happening there. We are able to provide well-sourced stories that no one else has through the original reporting done by the Chinese-language edition of The Epoch Times.

    Our Values
A human being's fundamental right is the right to be heard. We uphold and defend freedom of the press, freedom of speech, and freedom of assembly. We are also strong advocates for freedom of belief, and for all human rights, for all people.

We seek to speak out for those who are oppressed, and cannot speak for themselves. We speak to those in conflict, trying to show the common humanity they share, and the compassion that will help them truly respect the rights of others.

We work to tell the stories of daily life in our age, not on the basis of what is sensational at the moment, but instead in terms of what will be of lasting significance. We take the long view of humanity's history and future.

    Our History
The English edition of The Epoch Times launched in September 2003 on the web, and in August 2004 as a newspaper in New York. It meets a growing need for news reported and published independently, uncovering stories that have depth and meaning to people. In English, as well as in other languages, it serves a broad, international readership.

The Chinese-language Epoch Times started publishing in response to the growing need for uncensored coverage of events in China. The first newspaper was published in New York in May 2000, with the web launch in August 2000. Local editions published by regional bureaus soon followed, making it the largest of any Chinese-language newspaper outside of Mainland China and Taiwan.

The Epoch Times continues to expand news coverage and newspaper distribution in more regions, and with editions in more languages. We are optimistic about the future. Watch us grow!

Pwrone, all the chinese have to do is to stop showing up to buy our bonds at the next sale of them. Doing so will give no place for Bush to borrow to clean up the remainder of Katrina and other storms, wage continuous war in the middle east or any other number of projects he wants financed. China is the largest buyer of American bonds. http://www.tpmcafe.com/story/2005/7/28/10550/8806

The best way to hurt America these days is to bankrupt her and if not bankrupt, then cripple her. Even the bible long ago warned to beware of the dragon of the north. It was referring to china.

Pwrone...I am interested in hearing your solution to the situation. Are you up for another pre-emptive strike? Or maybe we should just nuke the hell out of them before they become a bigger threat. And sojustask is right about them bankrupting us. But then, according to you, the economy is booming.

Ha..ha..ha. Well then, given this bright, new, happy "democracy" we have in Iraq-Nam, what would you suggest we do if someone like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the current president of Iran, gets elected?

I don't think the liberals are really 'crying over deposing a mass-murdering dictator', per-se... that was a nice little bonus for Dubyah and his war-mongerers in the aftermath of their falsely pitched war. The 'liberals', since you insist on always labeling large numbers of people, are pissed because we are mired in a god-forsaken country for who knows how long, losing double digits of our young, strong citzens DAILY (oftentimes), and have no price tag attached besides the already staggeringly expensive amount that has been spent already.

So I suppose you suggest by 'dealing' with THIS situation we should make some military strike against China? ARe you insane? What will finance it, who will fight it? ARe you for a draft? How about you go fight them pesky Chinese.

This is the most unintelligent post I've seen from you to date. Are you getting nervous because so many of your beloved faction's pawns are falling under scrutiny?

I am saying that if we, along with all other concerned nations, do nothing then we will get what we deserve. In no way am I suggesting that we attack them militarily, but neither do I suggest we let them keep building their arsenal until they leisurely walk in and start barking orders. I am also saying that the historic aversion of the left to challenging any kind of communism is legendary.

The Chinese have always wanted what they want today, what they wanted in the time of the Khans. We ignore this fact at our own peril. The suggestion of a nation rising up in an attempt to 'rule the world' is laughable to many, even though 60 years ago it happened. And 60 years is like a lunch break to the tide of history.

For t70, I would suggest that you edit your posts for content and remember your utter lack of knowledge concerning the ravaging of Tibet.

That 'nonsense' to which you refer to, in this thread, are copies of the 'Cool Web Sites' that [My] Browser (MSIE6x-OE6y-Scams-NetZero8.0.3DEEP) displayed on my Monitor/Panel/CRT when I clicked on the HYPERLINK(s) embedded in pwrone's initial post for this thread.

Nobody is forcing any body to read anything; Qbasic scroll to your g-us-ascii-HEART's CONTENT. Makes absolutely no difference to me @ my home base.

I agree with you that China is a country that we should be very wary about, but how do you suggest that we 'challenge' them? I think the idea of a a nation as large as China rising up against us is a very REAL threat indeed. What should we do? They own 1/3 of our economy. Is that liberals' fault? The last time I looked, conservatives were in control of the Congress have been for the last 10 years. What do we do about the huge amount of goods that we import from their economy. As far as I'm concerned they are on the way up while we are on the way down if things stay as they are right now.

Maybe we all should learn a little Chinese.

a.) That is content that was retrieved from your referral HYPERLINK(s) with a few short comments of my own. What does your lordsh*t recommend get edited?

b.) You are clueless about what I do or do not know about the 'ravaging of Tibet'. Just because you can whack a few search queries and post the results doesn't make you an expert on the subject and doesn't give me an 'utter lack of knowledge' on the subject. The only thing accurately indicated by any of it is that you are a contentious jack-ass in an elephant suit.

    Dear pwrone,

How are liberals to blame for the Iraq war, the huge deficit, ect, ect? Do you get your talking points from Rush Limbaugh? He doesn't tell you the truth you know, and just remember, he didn't serve because he had an anal cyst (easily removable). I find remarks about liberals about as humorous as Goebbles making jokes about the Jews. Just remember, Bush is the one who has borrowed billions from the Chinese so YOU don't have to pay more taxes. Why is it now the liberals fault for being in debt to the Chinese?
Compared to other first world nations, we pay very little in taxes. What's wrong with wanting the wealthist and the super wealthy corporations paying their fair share? I'm tired of them coming to Washington with their hands out everytime they make a lousy business decision or get a nice fat tax break because they contributed to the RNC.
I don't know about you but, I'm sick of being treated like one of their cash cows.
