Many of you were right. This site is a scam Preying on the Unemployed.

I am a Police Officer in the state of North Carolina.

I decided to look around the private sector and see what's available. When I registered thru your site I started recieving E-mails from a Company called IBN.

The E-mail stated they had a position available and to register to see. After filling out info the pages takes you to a buy course CD'S No employment Positions at all.

When I E-mailed to ask some questions the E-mail address was not Valid as listed on the site.

When I performed a search Via MSN and found an interesting site called Scam.com. This site had many users who had signed up with your site only to be targeted for this scam to sell products from IBN-Corp.

I did some research and found the Corp office and called them. When I advised the rep that I was an Officer and I was going to report this company to the FCC and FTC for preying on the Unemployed she began to stumble over herself and hung up.

If I were a Career Builder CEO or stockholder I would want a great amount of distance between my company and this IBN site. They are using your site to prey on your members.

I have also contacted the Attorney Generals office in IBN's home state.

I have experienced the same problem with this company. When I called they would not answer. I have tried to E-mail them but like you received the E-mail back saying not a valid E-mail. I am glad that I decided to research the company before doing anything.

I received this scam email today. They go through a lot of trouble to make themselves look official. I too and glad I researched them before responding. Is there any news as to any developments on this scam?

Thanks guys for the heads up. As of today, these links were not working at IBN. Also, they have branched away from CareerbUilder onto other sites. Their email is enclosed in its entirety.

see your name, phone, and email.

2. Be Choosy. This option allows you to only display selected
pieces of contact information, or none at all. (If you use this
option be sure to remove your contact information from the body
of the resume.) Select "Make my resume visible..." from the
Privacy Settings, and select which contact information you want
seen by employers.

3. Be Anonymous. This option allows you to post your resume on
CareerBuilder.com without having it searched by employers. The

I just entered my resume on Career Builders yesterday. Today I get the email to fill out the IBN-Corp application. It sounded to good to be true so I did a Google search and found Scam.com. :rolleyes: Seems career Builder is not too concerned about their reputation. I will no longer be using them. Thank goodness for this site. The job search is nerve racking enough without this kind of thing. I appreciate the information.

Another thanks. What tipped me off to check of the e-mail was legit or not were the URLs they provided. Less than straight foward URLs is a good litmus test.

Will this was interesting! I always research Companies that contact me and more over make sure I am going to there correct site and not giving my information to con artist. I must say this is the first time I have found a true scam trying to prey on Job Seekers of all things. Thanks for the heads up!

Here it is August 14 and they are STILL doing this. I smelled a rat when I went to their website (not the link they gave, but http://www.ibn-corp.com ) and none of the jobs gave detailed descriptions or companies you would be working for. When clicking on them for more info, you suddenly had to give them YOUR info.

Then my fiance found this site which confirmed my suspicions. I agree with an earlier poster -- it's hard enough finding a job these days, let alone without this crap.

Another way of looking at this!

Read the fine print, if you are getting this email think about it, is your email or other personal information viewable, if it is stop complaining.

Another suggestion is to think of this company contacting you as a red flag that says "hey something is not right with your account." People are smart you can figure it out... remember the smaller the print the more important it is to read!!!
