    Florida Residents Beware Empire Today!!!

We called (Empire Today )to have an estimate done on window blinds,my disabled wife met with the sales rep and was told he would hold our down payment check until she confirmed the estimate with me later that day when I arrived home from work,we decided to cancel because 543.00 for one mini-blind is to much to spend for any budget. This happened on 9-16-05,we cancelled the following morning 9-17-05 under the impression the check he took was held as he had promised.Terry Taylor the sales rep told her that he would cancel the order and we would get the check back in the mail ,later in the day we discovered the check had been taken out of our account, since that day we have been unable to speak with anyone other then customer service who put us on hold and never assist us in getting the truth about this refund ,as to this very date we have been told eleven differant mailing dates by these people and found out that corparate is in Illinois they practice the same methods of resolving refunds they say the check is in the mail,so after 19 bussiness days we recieved a check for 43.00 and still wait for the 500.00 to arrive ,they tell us mail is slow, I can`t believe it takes over a month to return the refund we did not recieve any goods or services from their company. On the bottom of the work order they state 10 working days for return of monies to cancelled orders what does this mean to the consumer,Beware they don`t have to give it back!!!!!!!!!

How professional, it has been 10 months since Vince Davenport posted here, and it has taken 8 months for you to post this reply on scam.com.

So, why is it so hard to just refund the folks' money? A pathetic show and very unprofessional.

Anyway, Vince Davenport and others in a similar situation, in future you people should get your bank to deal directly with these crooks. No point wasting time and money running up your phone bill and stressing yourself out. Go to your bank and directly make a complaint citing a fraudulent transaction and tell them the goods/services were not received.

Also, from past experiences when dealing with goods and services and cancelling any contracts etc always do it in writing, in addition to verbally informing them that you will not be going ahead with the transaction. This way you have all the proof and evidence against them, especially as they like to respond or refund your money at their leisure.

If you give them a check and they claim they will send your money later or put it in the mail, get on the phone to your bank and cancel the check ASAP, your bank may charge you for this service, but at least it will save you the aggro of waiting a few months for your money.

Look - we don't know any of the details... Companies make mistakes.

That person gave a check out as a downpayment. The company cashed it... Sorry you have to wait on hold, but you need to at least make an effort to address a situation that you are partly to blame for.....

Just because a company cashed a check you gave them, then had the audacity to put you on hold when you called doesn't make them a scam. Just about every company puts you on hold when you call......
