    Papa La La Land

"Remember, I don't pay anyone minimum wage. The average driver makes way closer to 20 bucks an hour than 10," he said.

    http://www.inc.com/maria-aspan/john-...imum-wage.html

You don't pay $20, you don't pay $10. You charge the customer for delivery, you keep that money. You pay me $4/hr + some gas money. You turn an honest, hard working man into a beggar, dependent on the generosity of customers to pay my rent. The expenses to maintain my car come out of those tips, too. When the car needs to be replaced, it is The Bank of Mom and Dad, because no real bank will loan money to anybody that makes $4 an hour + tips, part time. It is usually part time because you don't want to pay for any benefits, and @$4, you can afford to overstaff. Tell the truth, John!

    Stop lying!

(said to a person whose mind was wandering.)She lives out in Lalaland. (said of a person considered out of touch with reality)

Perrin v. Papa John’s International, Inc. and Papa John’s USA, Inc. is a conditionally certified collective action filed in August 2009 in the United States District Court, Eastern District of Missouri, alleging that delivery drivers were not reimbursed for mileage and expenses in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. Approximately 3,900 drivers out of a potential class size of 28,800 have opted into the action. Additionally, in late December 2013, the District Court granted a motion for class certification in five additional states, which will add approximately 15,000 plaintiffs to the case.

This is different. Walmart employees bring themselves to work. They can ride the bus. Delivery drivers have to bring a reliable car, cell phone, flashlight, and insurance. Most use GPS. Papa John provides none of this and pretends it all has no value. If drivers don't bring the cars, there will be no delivery. He knows. It is how he made his first dollar and his last dollar.

I say Papa John is a bully, he is taking the tips and delivery charges for himself, because he can.

Nobody tips because they think Papa John needs more money, but Papa takes those tips from drivers.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bullying

Bullying is the use of force, threat, or coercion to abuse, intimidate, or aggressively dominate others. The behavior is often repeated and habitual. One essential prerequisite is the perception, by the bully or by others, of an imbalance of social or physical power. Behaviors used to assert such domination can include verbal harassment or threat, physical assault or coercion, and such acts may be directed repeatedly towards particular targets. Rationalizations for such behavior sometimes include differences of social class, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, appearance, behavior, body language, personality, reputation, lineage, strength, size or ability.

Jim tried to unionize drivers, but sadly, died young, cancer. We remember him.

We need help! It is easy to imagine teachers would be paid 50 cents an hour if they didn't have a union.

Papa John solicits teachers, offers discounts, for large orders. Papa John always gets paid, but often, the driver doesn't.

Nobody tells the teachers that the driver is working for tips, is paid $4 an hour.

    Help!

Papa John’s International says it has agreed to pay $12.3 million to settle a class-action lawsuit accusing the company of underpaying mileage reimbursements to its pizza delivery drivers in six states.

The suit, filed in federal court in St. Louis in 2009, represents about 19,000 drivers in Missouri, Florida, Illinois, North Carolina, Arizona and Maryland. The court record notes that a settlement was agreed upon earlier this month.

Papa John’s disclosed in its second-quarter earnings announcement Tuesday that a preliminary out-of-court agreement had been reached.
