Get Free Stock Photos For Your Web Sites

This is some rather cool news for those of you running personal blogs, or blogs for your business - Getty Images, one of the largest stock photo agencies out there, is now letting you use their images on your sites for free. You can read more about it here:

    http://www.geekwire.com/2014/getty-i...k-photos-free/

Basically, as long as you include the image in the format they provide (with proper attribution back to them) you are free to use them without any reprimand. This is a great deal for bloggers and a smart move on their part since it gains them a ton of backlinks to their web site.

Another great deal is from BigStockPhoto. They are currently running a promotion where you can get 7 days worth of free downloads (up to 5 images per day, for a total of 35) at any resolution and in any format, for free just for signing up. There are some caveats and catches, but considering how generous this offer is (they're giving away literally hundreds of dollars worth of stock photography, if not thousands, depending on which ones you pick), they are a small price to pay.

    Here's the lowdown on it:

    1. You need to enter a credit card, which will temporarily be billed for $1. If you have a pre-paid card on it with at least $1 on it, that's perfect, because it will protect you from automatically getting billed for the full service, which brings me to the next point...

    2. Do not click on any buttons or links to "upgrade". Doing so will instantly cancel your trial period and instantly bill your card for a months worth of service, and you cannot get the trial period back. Only one is allowed per email address, credit card number and facebook account.

    3. You are required to share a message to your facebook account each day when before you can download the images you want. You may want to set up a dummy facebook account for this so you aren't spamming your friends (I know, that's kind of a dick move, but hey)

    4. If you don't use up your five downloads on a given day, they are gone and don't roll over. Also, just before you are about to download them, double check that they are the correct file size and format that you want. By default it selects "medium" size images and "jpg". You might as well download the highest resolution images possible. Also, some vector art you would probably want in EPS format, not JPEG. You cannot change these at a later time.

    5. It tries to auto bill you on the 6th day, not on the 7th. So make sure you cancel a day earlier than you think you need to cancel. This is why it's even better to just use a pre-paid card you have sitting around with a buck or two on it, so they can't charge you for the full service.
