    Hey Steve! :sun_smiley:

Yeah, a freind of mine got a pair of them...in 1978...from an add in the back of a comic book...As teenagers, we played with them like toys, you know, breaking stuff :spin2: and since then, I have known more than a few folks that had a set...somewhat of an equilizer...But, I do not know for sure if these would be illegal to own, but if you were caught hitting someone with them, it would be considered assault with a deadly weapon...Very naughty!:judges:

It would depend on the state and local laws. I assume they'd fall in the same catogory as brass knuckles. But if you were to use them on somebody, you'd have to prove you had no alternative but to use deadly force to get out of an assault with a deadly weapon charge.

If you check the hands of your local police officers you will find that plenty of them are wearing them.

They are very effective, very legal, and protect your hands and knuckles very nicely.

I believe they are called sap gloves.

Gives a whole new meaning to backhanding someone up side the head. Kind of effective.

You will also find them on the hands of a lot of bikers. Protects your hands if your bike goes down or you have to participate in a rumble somewhere.

I highly reccomend them as an alternative for self defense to those who won't or can't carry a gun.

Anything that can be deployed as a weapon without visually being recognized as a weapon is a good idea.

That's why metal flashlights are so nice. Most people don't recognize them as a potential weapon until they get that hollow metal tube smacked upside their head.

It is a dangerous world we live in, one should learn to employ various items they routinely carry on their person or in their purse as weapons. Almost anything you carry on you can be used as weapon with a little imagination.

Exercise that imagination, figure out what you have and how you can utilize it to save your own ass some day.

There are predators out there who are looking for victims, try not to be a victim, but if you are, plan ahead on how you will respond and what you have on you at the time, that you may employ as a weapon. It can be anything from a credit card to a pencil and I can show you how.

Anyway, the gloves in the first link are filled with steel balls.

AFAIK, you can get them filled with sand as well.

No, I didn't know that about boxing gloves and I can't imagine that gloves filled with steel balls or sand can be legal. Why would somebody need them unless they were up to no good?

    It's pretty messed up.

S'true. And there is a good reason why not.

    I guess so.

I suppose one could argue that they are for protection?

    Like mace and pepper sprays.

Only probably less of a hazard?

    Re: Gloves!!!

    No problem, Valerie.

I just wanted to explain why boxers cannot make a proper fist, in scientific terms, so, I am glad that you enjoyed learning the reasons.

    Back to the other gloves.

Like I say, I guess they could be used for protection.

You voted for the Libertarian Party, right?

Now, what with one thing and another, I have not had the chance I would like to have gone through their core policies, but they do (am I right?), support the people's right to use things like mace, pepper spray, etc, for defence, yes?

I actually agree with that one thing.

However, if we agree with that, we must also, must we not, endorse the legality of those gloves. They can also be used for defence. If anything they are probably less harmful than mace or pepper spray.

    Btw, get this.

If I had a pepper spray in the UK, it is classed as a FIREARM.

Were I to use it, even to protect myself, I could face between FIVE AND TEN YEARS in prison.

Meantime, a man (who recently), raped a 5 yr old child in the UK was given six years.

Whoever said the law was an ass got in spot on.

    Madness.
