    Why do dogs bark?

I know I could just research, and find out everything I need to know. That is not all this thread is about. I would also like to hear about your stories with dogs. All dog topics open on this thread.

A number of reasons. it's a crude form of communication as well as a warning to othe dogs and animals. Some times they just bark to bark. Just my opinion, it's not based on any scientific fact.

Frustrated and otherwise neglected dogs; no quality time contact dogs, bark more and longer.

Any kind of pets that humans have make better pets if no other creature than a human is around. If others are present, especially of their kind, then they do not relate as well to humans.

I lost my canine soul mate of almost 16 years. She gave so much and asked for so little.

We have a new puppy now, Lily Belle. She's the sweetest dog and I love her, but there will never be another like my Taggy Rose.

This is from Jimmy Stewart. Maybe you've seen it before:

They can and they do. I would like to know do you have a dog? Would you like to share some stories about dogs? I know you don't play well with others, but I would really like to hear some good dog stories.

I have had a dog a few years back. He was a Sheltie and his name was Buster, and he was my best friend. Sadly, he passed away in 2001. He lived a long life, a total of 17 years. I miss him very much.

    Re: Why do dogs bark?

I have a dog named Fred the butt head and another one named Turd hound, Fred is a dalmation/and BIG black dog next door cross breed who believes with all his might that he really is a lap dog. so we call him our 120 pound Chee wa wa. his bark is his door bell when he wants back in the house he barks , we don't allow him to make friends with any one that doesn't live here so he also barks if he hears anyone he doesn't know. Turd hound was named by my 4 year old grandson Clarence who's favorite word at this time is you guessed it 'turd'
he only barks when he's being ignored or wants some of what you are eatting or wants in the house or out of the house or if some one drives uo or drives away or when his favorite sqeaky chew toy comes to vist ' Clarence' but other then that I think dogs bark because they can't meow or moo...IMO
