For those who think drilling for oil is the answer

For all those who believe drilling for oil is the answer, and also believe there is a tooth fairy, here is something to think about.

We have a gas shortage in Georgia. Maybe one out of ten stations have gas, but only for a few hours in each case.
Upon questioning tonight on the news, one of the reasons given was because of the Hurricanes. Of course, that has long passed. But he also said, "because of a decrease in demand, the refineries lowered production", and it takes time to increase it back up. What they were doing was keeping the price of gas high, by limiting production.
So no matter how much gas there was, they were not going to put it on the market.
Lets look at the shortage another way: oil is dropping dramatically; so how do they keep prices high? An artificial shortage. So, now they make 3 or 4 times the profit on each truckload, while cutting their delivery costs significantly. Since poeple are going to use the same gas they always have, the oil companies will still sell the same gallonage with lower costs and higher profits. Brilliant!
Obama is right...drilling is not going to make a difference.

Right.. It's all just another cynical and reprehensible GOP tactic to politicize a situation and fear monger up a crisis around it so they can pretend to have the only keys for saving the day.

Meanwhile, it also provides them with more below the belt tawdry smears and lies to launch at those who are telling the truth....because the truth is their most formidable nemesis.

If drilling would solve the problem, they're already sitting on enough potential to keep the rigs busy for the next two decades. The thing is- again - no available rigs and fixed refining capacity - manipulated for the purpose of sheering American Sheep at the gas pump while keeping us all spread eagle over a barrel .

Yep, I said this very thing in another thread. Plus the fact that once a new refinery is put into plan it will take seven to eight years just to get the oil out. Sources say it will be until 2027 before they reach max capacity if they started now.

We need to get beyond fossil fuels plain and simple. Bush said we were addicted to foreign oil, well who made it so? Hell when the price went sky high at the pump in one freaking quarter some of the big oil companies profited roughly 37 billion dollars.
How long have hurricanes been going on? I don't ever remember the price going through the roof when one went through the gulf back when I was too young to even drive. It's all bullshit, and we are supposed to believe all this.
