Advise on building a good blog

The mrs is going to start doing a dog sitting, dog walking service. She has the skills for this.

She wants to know how best to promote it, without it costing a lot.

I thought a BLOG might be one idea, with a link to the URL in a newspaper ad?

What a BLOG suffice, or would she be better with a full on site, that would have to be created and hosted?

Anyone good at this sort of thing, any tips would be great..

check the TOS for any free hosted blogspaces you're considering; many, though not all, prohibit commercial uses.

I'd go with both, a site listing the services, maybe recomendations from other customers, and dog care servises. You can even find an affiliate program for pet care products and make a persentage of the sales that come from your site. You can put your blog up on that domain. Really not hard to do at all if you stick to baisic html. It can get more complicated, but I think for what you want you could learn to build it and keep it up within a few hours. And hosting isn't that expensive anymore, you can find a host and get it started now for under 20 dollars, and less than 10 dollars a month.

With Microsoft office live you can get a complete website domain name included.
