    Hall And Associates ?

Anyone familiar with these "debt collection" whack jobs out of Orangeburg, NY ?
I've done a little research on them and the best I can tell is that they are a operation that buys up uncollectable debts and starts trolling the Net and public records for anyone with a similar name
I am the administrator of all of my elderly mother's legal and financial affairs by way of absolute power of attorney and I'm assuming that since that is a matter of public record, these idiots got my home phone # and started contacting me about 2 months ago about a debt owed by a person whose name is one initial off of hers and they refuse to stop calling.
I spoke with one of their "settlement specialists" one time trying to resolve the matter by informing them that my mother has a different name and lives in IN. I was assured that it was a mistake and all contact would cease, but after their persisting with calls, I got very confrontational with them on the phone and refused to give out any identifying info and told them to either verify the debt or cease contact. The person on the phone with me became very abusive at that point so I hung up on her.
She actually had the nerve to call me back and pursue it further.
That's when I blew a gasket and told her I'd sue their asses into oblivion if they didn't back off, :grrr: yet the calls continue on a weekly basis.
I'm getting ready to go to my attorney with it, but I'd appreciate any insight from anyone who has had any dealings with them before I proceed.

Quoted from your messege board.... You simply refused to calmly speak to a "collector" in regards to a wrong number, this matter which is quite simple would have been resolved. Why dont you just calmly call back, speak to a different rep and kindly ask them to remove your number. Especially since you stated this is not your "debt" why would you take the time to retain an attorney? A little silly don't you think?

How about changing your number? I had to do that because of telemarketers.
