    Crop Circle Puzzles Switzerland Residents

Switzerland residents were puzzled this weekend by the discovery of a fresh crop circle, according to Swiss news Web site 24heures.ch.

The circle, roughly 66 yards wide, was discovered by a Swiss army pilot in the northwestern town of Payerne, in a corn field just outside of the military base there.

Click here to read the Swiss news report.

After making the discovery, the pilot, Francois Blanchoud, reportedly asked his father, Pierre — a specialist in unexplained phenomena — to take a flight with him to look it over.

And Pierre reportedly said the crop circle is "authentic."

“The work is huge," he told the Web site."It is not humanly possible."

The owner of the field said he will harvest the corn in 10 days, but the circle will remain because he will not collect the flattened corn.

Saw a documentary on these once. The filmmakers followed around a group of 'retired' crop circle makers. They showed how they made them, demostrated how easy it had been to create complex designs, and the more complex and enormous they made them, the more fervent the beliefs of alien researchers became. And the more their circles were studied and "puzzled" over, the more laughs they had at the believers' expense.

    They finally retired, because:

a.) It had gotten far too easy to fool believers.
b.) They'd become bored with it.
c.) They felt the joke was getting a bit too pointless and cruel.

It looks like a new group of hoaxters has taken up the reigns. And there's certainly no shortage of people who want to believe. As P.T. Barnum once said, "There's a sucker born every minute."

Hello Chaps, This was on some program a few years ago. People got into the fields, where ever and decided to do some artistic work. Aliens? Ha! There are no aliens from another planet. Just people doing this, so it is no "mystery" at all.

Hahahaha...toe to toe! mano e mano! Boldy go, steadfast crop circle warrior! Let no trivial things such as evidence steer you off of the Path of Enlightened Fallacy!

Crop circles are fascinating only in that they're the most well-documented hoaxes of the last century, that started off by some drinking buddies on a lark.

"There's a sucker born every minute" is a phrase often credited to P.T. Barnum, an American showman.

However, when Barnum's biographer tried to track down when Barnum had uttered this phrase, all of Barnum's friends and acquaintances told him it was out of character. Barnum's credo was more along the lines of "there's a customer born every minute" – he wanted to find ways to draw new customers in all the time because competition was fierce and people bored easily.

The entire quote is "There's a sucker born every minute...and two to take 'em." The source of the quote is most likely famous con-man Joseph ("Paper Collar Joe") Bessimer. Barnum's fellow circus owner and arch-rival Adam Forepaugh attributed the quote to Barnum in a newspaper interview in an attempt to discredit him. However, Barnum never denied making the quote. It is said that he thanked Forepaugh for the free publicity he had given him.]

    Point made no matter what.

Spary paint sh*t gold, put it in a pretty enough package and it will sell.
