Apparently spamming is illegal, but if you go through the proper channels, there is no ethical problem with running full page ads for your penny stock in Forbes. After getting a piece of snail mail spam I took a closer look at the company being advertised and found out that a former director was married to a convicted stock promoter. When I asked the business media for a response, I came up blank with Business Week and "Smart" money, but IBD told me that it was business as usual for them. After looking at past ads IBD had run, I can tell you that you have better odds of making money in Vegas, than you do by investing in a penny stock that someone is paying money to advertise. The press won't report this because they are involved, but I think regular investors are getting the shaft.
