Government Thieves now trying to levy Internet Taxes - even tax E-mail

Government Thieves now trying to levy Internet Taxes - even tax E-mail

"The era of tax-free e-mail, Internet shopping and broadband connections could end this fall, if recent proposals in the U.S. Congress prove successful. State and local governments this week resumed a push to lobby Congress for far-reaching changes on two different fronts: gaining the ability to impose sales taxes on Net shopping, and being able to levy new monthly taxes on DSL and other connections. One senator is even predicting taxes on e-mail."

And this is all being proposed by an allegedly "anti-tax" Republican too. Go figure?

Cool, tax a spammer. As for sales tax, it's the law in every state that sales tax must be paid on an out of state purchase. So what?

Problem with taxing a spammer is that a lot of spam emails are sent from hacked accounts.

there's no way they'll be able to control that. When you sign up for an E-mail account just BS all of your personal information. This is the internet remember, they'll never find out who you really are.

I'd rank the likelihood of legislation passing to tax e-mails right up there with reparations.

This sounds exactly like the hoax that came out in the 90's about postage for e-mail. That one was even picked up by our local newspaper!! :D

They COULD do that, but honestly I don't think that they have the time, management, and resources to do that for the entire country.

The merchant always has to pay sales tax. IF he does not charge you with it he still has to pay it.

Slavery was once the law. Did that make it right?

Actually, i'd be impressed if they could track my home IP adress. It's kept behind a rotating hardwired IP switcher.

Depends on who you asked at the time the law was in effect. I guarantee you'd get a different answer from a southern plantation owner than you would from a black man from new york.

I can also get a different answer to the question "Is murder right?"

Charles Manson will obviously say "yes" - but the man is a deranged criminal.

I can also get a different answer to the question "Does 2+2=4?" A moron may tell me "no"

But a logical truth is a logical truth regardless. And taxation is theft.

You asked if slavery was right? The answer still is that in some minds then and now, it was right. Those minds aren't logical of course but slavery fits their definition of what's right.
