    FAO Grim & PWrone

Okay, nothing sinister, no personal attacks, just something that I am hoping that you two will take part in on here.

Please let me know, and I will go on.

    Thanks

You have to tell me what you want me to take part in, before I can agree.

I will say this though... If it has to do with political views on issues, I'm most likely "in".

    Lets here what you got.

Nothing sinister? Nothing? Nothing at all?!

You will have to be far more vague before I can commit, but if it has anything to do with skeet shooting or antique embroidery, count me in!

Okay, it is a pretty simple thing, we did it here before, and it worked well, until some wanted to over complicate it, guys.

It is a good test of one's debating skills.

First, you must put your personal opinions to one side.

    Is it political?

Well, yes it is, in a kind of way.

    Here is how it goes.

    Grim.

You will argue, or present a case, that zoos are cruel, and have no place in a modern society.

Mr P, you will argue that they are not cruel, and serve a valuable purpose.

You can use opinion, links, facts, stats, anything you wish.

You take it in turns to post.

A max of five posts each, then others decide who has presented the best case.

See, nothing sinister, and I picked you both out special, since I think sometimes you perhaps get a bad press on here.

    In?

LOL, don't forget to pay special attention to the treatment of the monkeys fellas.

Yeah well, I think you could have come up with a better subject for them.

No, I think it is the perfect subject.

See, they are seen here, right or wrong, as two people unable to debate outwith a particular bubble, and they are seen here as two people who, right or wrong, only have views on liberals, etc, etc, and I am going to afford each a little more credit than that, but we shall see what they have to say.

Okay, I'll play...I will find the time to give this subject some thought and post something on Sunday. Or, I should say...some more thought, because anyone who knows me knows that I spend at least 20-30 hours per week in fund-raising and community outreach programs on behalf of this zoo, 'zoo' culture, and all zoos worldwide. In fact, those anti-zoo pukes REALLY get my goat, and more is the pity that masterdebator Grim has drawn the short straw.

I doff my cap and bow in his general direction.

    Good man.

All we need now is for Grim to see the post, and off we go.

Either of you can start, then after five posts, I'll put it out to the vote, as to who has presented the best case.

    Cheers,

    YWFT

    lol

I have been rebuilding my computer since Saturday, so I've been down. In fact, I have some others I need to work on and won't be around much the next couple of days.

As for your idea, I'll give it some thought. The problem is, I'm not what you would call a natural "debater". I only get into a discussion if the subject is something I feel very passionate about, and whether or not zoos are cruel just doesn't interest me much.

Various aspects of politics, the economy, media bias and the war on terror are the things that motivate me to post here. Just look at all the different forums here at Scam, and other than a few posts on the conspiracy forum, the political forum is the only place I post.

Fair enough Mr G, although I think it could loosely be called a political issue.

Anyway, would someone care to take Grim's place, against Mr PW Rone?

Please raise a hand, and we'll be good to go.

I think that we should make grim or pwrone debate the liberal side of an argument, might make them see that every issue has more than one dimension...

Harry, I cannot make them do anything, bud, but if someone is prepared to replace Grim for this one, against Mr Rone, then I have another experimental idea in mind that is not that far off what you have suggested.

I'll be happy to debate on either side of any issue in any form of competition, time permitting. No problem.

As for my own beliefs, they mostly fall into the 'knowing the difference between right and wrong' category, which is why the lib wanna-bes here become so incensed on occasion. It is a question they often struggle with, and are defeated by.

Looks like no one is going to take up my/our challenge, mr P, although it is good that you were at least prepared to take the challenge.

    Unless...

    Anyone..?

    One last chance..?
