    pdf format

A few months ago i purchased and downloaded an ebook from one of the members here (Great ebook) it was a pdf file. My question is, is there an advantage to using the pdf format? I did notice at the end of the ebook there was a pad lock symbol that when highlighted with my mouse pointer it said:
    This documented is password encrypted.
    You cannot print this document.
    You cannot edit this document.
    You cannot copy this document.

Would the encryption be the main reason for choosing pdf, or are there other advantages as well. Thanx.

While you can also password protect a Microsoft Word document, with PDF you cannot edit it (among other things like the security items you mentioned above.).

It also makes for a more cleaner, "proof ready" printed copy, IMO, versus Word.
