    Home Security of America, Inc.

Buyer beware of bogus 'home warranty' insurance policy available to buyers and sellers of real estate transactions. I (the buyer) purchased the home though Howard Hanna Smythe Cramer Real Estate company who offered the seller the option to purchase a 'home warranty' for $399.00. I purchased the property knowing the furnace and air conditioning would need to be replaced, but was told that since the home is covered under the 'home warranty', if anything should need to be repaired and/or replaced, no problem - I have the home warranty for one year! Well folks, don't be taken in by this marketing scam because at the end of the day, that's all it is. Like on purpose, the furnace quit on me and after following the procedures set forth in the policy, I contacted Home Security of America, Inc. to schedule a service call with one of their 'service providers'. The service provider shows up and upon inspecting the problem states that the unit has not been maintained (and let's not forget, it's 36 years old). So he goes out to his van to place the call to Home Security of America, Inc. to obtain approval to work on the unit. While he is still in his van in front of my home, I get a call from Home Security of America telling me that they are not honoring my claim due to 'lack of maintenance' from the previous owner(s)!!!!! The seller purchased the home owner warranty ... why? And I bought the property under the 'blanket of security' knowing that the problems could be fixed???? Stupid me. Now, I bet ... and this is just me being silly ... that if I try to place another service call for something else breaking (i.e., washer, dryer, etc.), that they won't turn around and say ... sorry, appliance was not maintained and therefore, we cannot honor the claim. Here's the best part ... for all home warranty service calls there is a $50.00 deductible which applies for each claim ... no problem, that's fine. So I get ready to write the check for the furnace call and all of a sudden the charge is $62.00!!!!! I ask the guy "what gives? I thought it was $50.00?" ... oh ... he said ... "the insurance company should have told you ... that was if it was an approved claim and since it's not approved, you have to pay the normal service call fee". Nice, huh? Folks - beware of home warranties ... they are scams!

Preexisting conditions would be a hard fight to get covered. I do believe Home Security even states that in the contract.

    Hi guys

I found some pretty solid information regarding this Goof. I worked for Mutual Warranty way back in 2005 and I have been following this Goof for a while now. He skiped town on me and owes me 5k. I thought it was a legit company until one day he just left. Anyways, this just came to me, I remember when he was working here his dad would come in and help him out. His Dad's name is Gary Johnston and he is very involved in Rugby Canada. He would know where he is. Now I looked up his Dad and tracked him down. His phone number is 250-388-7441. His Dad I know was also involved in the company, his Dad would also put money into the company and therefore is just as liable. His dads email address is garyjohnston@hotmail.com. He lives in Oak Bay on Vancouver Island in the city of Victoria , British Columbia, Canada. Anyways I have tried to contact him here today but no luck. If we all try maybe we will get some where. His Father is an accomplise. Its a new lead......Lets get this Goof F%&$
