HELP! I can't do it without YOU!

This year, I have the honor and pleasure of participating in MDA's 2007 Texarkana, TX Lock-Up to help "Jerry's Kidsģ". To reach my goal I need your help!

I'd like to include you or your company on my list of contributors who are helping me reach my goal. Your donation would help MDA continue the important fight against muscular dystrophy. Check out my web page by clicking on the link below. There you'll find all kinds of information about MDA, and be able to make your tax-deductible donation on-line using your credit card.

MDA serves people in our communities with neuromuscular disease by providing clinics, support groups, assistance with the purchase and repair of wheelchairs, braces and communication devices, and summer camp for kids. MDA also funds research grants to help find treatments and cures for some 43 neuromuscular diseases that affect people of all ages.

I sincerely hope that you'll take the opportunity to support MDA. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.

On behalf of the families MDA serves, thank you! :D

    I find that admirable.

I am currently undergoing treatment for a muscle wasting disease caused by statin-based drugs used in the treatment for lowering cholesterol!

Mine is reversible MD is not!

I only wish I could have afforded more!

    Well done!

    :)
Oh bless your heart. My husband has to take Aggrenox for his cholesterol. That combined with Caduet and all the generic blood pressure and seizure medicines always worries me about what it's doing to his kidneys and liver. The guy is only 52 and has had two strokes! Ugh. I'll be 48 around Easter. It's something that is always in the back of my mind that I'll end up a widow by the time I'm 55 if he stays on all these drugs.

I'm so glad that your condition can be reversed, I'll pray for your continued progress. Thank you so much for your generosity.

    Hey Gazza,

I thought you might like to see some pictures of the local kids here that your generous donation will be helping.

    These kids are cuties.

First we have BJ. Or the Cat in the Hat man as we sometimes call him. Bj has the type of Muscular Dystrophy called Duchenne. This kind pretty much destroys healthy muscles until the muscles become completely useless and the patient totally disabled. He was diagnosed at 3 years old. He took his last step on August 2, 2004. He's almost 10 now.

Quite the character isn't he? Hold on, I have two more pictures I'll share with you.

This lone kiddo is Michael, he reminds me so much of my grandson it unreal. This kid is always smiling and OK, flirting. But look at him, how can anyone say "No" to this kid?

    LOL.

This was a camp picture taken last year.

And the two boys competing are Harley on the Left and Dalton on the right. They are playing one of the kids favorite sports out here, "Power Soccer". Even those not wheelchair bound can participate by borrowing one of the "loaners" to play.

The camp is something these kids plan on and look forward to every summer. For two weeks they aren't the "handicapped" kid at school. They are Just Kids. That's a big thing for them.

And a forum this big, if folks would just kick in a dollar or $5 then together we can send a lot of kids to camp. A lot of drops in a bucket will fill the bucket. Hey, I want to be able to brag on people at this site for the effort. I want THAT to go in the paper. I want to be able to scan the article and post it here and let everyone see that this site has some awesome folks on it.

The 26th is creeping steadily up on us. That's the day I go into their jail. That's the deadline. Help me out folks. Let's make a difference.

    Thanks so much.

LM - how long do we have to donate? We just celebrated my daughters birthday so we're a little low on funds - but I want to make sure I get money in before your time runs up!

April 26th, Wednesday, is the day they come "take me away" and I must "post my bail". LOL

Happy birthday to your daughter. If funds are a problem, I'll bet that the fireman will be out in your town this coming weekend taking donations in their boots. All that money I believe will benefit local kids in your area. So, please, if you can, give locally this weekend.

I wanted to share this with you folks. Today I go into the lock-up for MDA. But thanks for the donations from people here and some of my other friends, I have "made bail." This will mean a lot to these kids.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart, you all are the greatest.

Itís those special ones you meet

    That keeps you going

They spring up here and there

    Without you really knowing

Itís the special ones you meet

    That keeps on showing

    Through thick and thin

That they will always be there

Itís the special ones you meet

That teaches what life is all about

    Through floods or droughts

They say, ďIíll always be thereĒ

Itís like life is going great

When the special ones are near

    And when they are here

I seem to say no fear

    Itís those special ones

We seem to all want to be

    And when you are around

I think the special one is I

    Itís the special ones

The ones that make it great

    That makes life awesome

And they make life a skate

Itís the special ones you meet

That makes us feel so warm

And when the special ones go

    We all need to cry

And we can never say good-bye

    We hold on so tightly

To the special ones in life

    Life isnít worth living

Without the special ones by our side

A talented young camper indeed. A very inspiring poem.
franKg - "Since God was ok with Moses, Joshua and David burning cities to the ground and killing all the civilians I think he would be ok with us splashing a little water on some terrorists."

    Dr poormouth - "Exackly;
It's not "waterboarding", it's "extraordinary baptism""
