    O.w.l.

In the near future, I would like to see a common langauge spoken, through the whole world, one that would transcend nations, culture, race, or colour.

This would only help with communication between the nations, and a better understanding.

Which, in turn, would lead to less conflict over a cultural or communicaton breakdown.

America, Oz, Canada, and, of course, the UK, all share a common langauge, and there would be a very slim chance of any inter conflict between those nations.

Each retains their own culture, Canadians are different in their culture to Australians, who in turn are different to British people, etc, but there is the common bond of a shared language.

So, were this rolled out globally, it follows that we would see at least a little more understanding than we have now, imo.

It would matter not to me, which language was selected.

The one that was most fluid, and most creative, perhaps?

Or construct an entirely new one.

I realise that traditionalists will oppose such an idea, but times move on, and if it would improve relations, then what is bad about it, esp since people could still retain their original language as well, if they wanted, in the same way that some in Ireland and Scotland, still speak English and their version of Gaelic.

Can you see benefits to this..?
"Ethics" is simply a last-gasp attempt by deist conservatives and
orthodox dogmatics to keep humanity in ignorance and obscurantism,
through the well tried fermentation of fear, the fear of science and
    new technologies.
There is nothing glorious about what our ancestors call history,
it is simply a succession of mistakes, intolerances and violations.

I see a problem with it, we have a hard enough time teaching our citizens the English language. Let alone a WHOLE NEW language.

    LOL. but hey, keep trying.

    Re: O.w.l.

There is already one in the world. It is called Esperanto and has been around for years.

    Created by: L.L. Zamenhof 1887
Setting and usage: International auxiliary language
    Total speakers: Native: approx. 1000;
Fluent speakers: est. 100,000 to 2 million
    Category (purpose): constructed language
    International auxiliary language
    Esperanto
Category (sources): vocabulary from Romance and Germanic languages; phonology from Slavic languages
    Regulated by: Akademio de Esperanto

Esperanto is the most widely spoken constructed international language. The name derives from Doktoro Esperanto, the pseudonym under which L. L. Zamenhof first published the Unua Libro in 1887. The word itself means 'one who hopes'. Zamenhof's goal was to create an easy and flexible language as a universal second language to foster peace and international understanding.

Although no country has adopted the language officially, it has enjoyed continuous usage by a community estimated at between 100,000 and 2 million speakers. By some estimates, there are about a thousand native speakers.

Today, Esperanto is employed in world travel, correspondence, cultural exchange, conventions, literature, language instruction, television (Internacia Televido) and radio broadcasting. Some state education systems offer elective courses in Esperanto; there is evidence that learning Esperanto is a useful preparation for later language learning .

The next generation would learn it as natural, and it would pass on soon enough, I think.

Yeah, I heard of it, and yet, it has not quite come into global and everday use, as a means of language, as a first language.

If Arabic fitted the best criterea, then it could be that, but the domination by Islam thing, that would not be welcomed, indeed, it would be resisted, by people of all other types, I assure you.

It is still the fastest growing religion in the world. Eventually Islam will have enough adherents to legally take over all of the countrys of the world.

    Take over?

    Domination?

Are you suggesting democratically, or by usurping power?

    Yes, benefits.

Ease of communication for travellers, improvd business and political relations, as in the example of other nations sharing a common language, going to war a bit less than those that are divided by culture and language...

You are wrong my Arab friend. The U.S will NEVER embrace Islam as a religion. And I would fight any attempt for Islam to take control of this country. I would fight, and millions others would as well.

    Who declared it impossible..?

Some of the best ideas in science and politics, have stemmed from an idea, that others declared 'impossible', but they were wrong, it was possible!
