The Scam Cup - Last Tie Of The Round

    At last!

Following what seemed like an age, we are good to go on this again.

Thus far, Grim, Sojustask, and Bairdi have all knocked their competiton flat on their backsides, so the final tie is

    Conneticut Victim v D Christie

Please refresh yourself with the guidelines, esp new voters, otherwise you are voting blind.

    Here they are;

Subject - could be any, we will say politcial issues though.

Participants - 8 Chosen at random

Process - Eliminaton, going from 8, to 4, to 2, then to the eventual winner.

Guidelines - Based on their with, intelligence, doggedness in a debate, eloquence, and so on, you have to select who you think would win a political debate between the chosen pair. IT DOES NOT MATTER IF YOU DISAGREE WITH THE PERSONS ACTUAL PAST VIEWS, ONLY THAT YOU THINK THEY COULD BEAT THE OTHER IN A DEBATE!

First to 6 votes in reach round goes through...

STATE WHY YOU VOTED THE WAY YOU DID...

I appreciate that some share a similar idealogy, so you have to imagine in those cases, that they have found something to have a spat about.

And that folks, is it, really simple, and stolen idea from another forum!
"Ethics" is simply a last-gasp attempt by deist conservatives and
orthodox dogmatics to keep humanity in ignorance and obscurantism,
through the well tried fermentation of fear, the fear of science and
    new technologies.
There is nothing glorious about what our ancestors call history,
it is simply a succession of mistakes, intolerances and violations.

Okay, this was a tough one, as they each have their own different style.

CV argues with passion. That is her strength, imo. Her weakness, no offence, is that she has been clearly wrong in the past, and will not budge.

Christie? He clearly has a great bank of knowledge that he can tap into, however, unlike CV, he tends to rely more on his library of links and stored material that personal opinion, so it really is a clash of styles, this one.

Anyway, it is up to you, but after much thought, I gave Christie the slight edge (sorry, CV).

Christie takes an early 2-0 lead, please state why you gave a person your vote, makes it more interesting, imo.

    Thank you

I can't help but agree with about CV's passion. CV has been right on the money in many of her debates here and really comes off as a person who is very strong and articulate in her arguments.

On the other hand dchristie is dchristie. What you see is what you get. He retaliates and takes no prisoners when confronted and offers no apologies. When it comes to arguing an issue, though, I think he is one of the most intelligent people on this forum.

Sorry CV, my vote goes to dchristie.

One of the most important attributes of a good debater is to respect their opponents' POV.

Gonna be a close one this, as I thought....

Remember votes end when one person gets to 6.

John, did you vote, as it is still 2-1?

Though I voted for CV I agree that D is one of the most informed and intelligent here. But I rarely read his posts because of the caustic nature of his debating tactics. Just takes the entertainment factor out of it for me which is really the only reason I'm here. Too bad, as I think he probably has alot to say that I'd like to here in a more civil delivery.

Change your political philosophy, step out of the darkness of conservativeness and see the light. From this side of the aisle, dchristie provides great entertainment for us. :D

This should be interesting. Just what do you believe my "political philosophy" to be? :)

I think this pretty much sums it up. You said you are no liberal then you must be a bit on the conservative side, wouldn't you agree? ;)
