JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES - Some Insight As to Who They Are?

    CLEVELAND JEWISH NEWS.COM

A Report from the News Archives : CLEVELAND JEWISH NEWS.COM

This is a copy of one of such more positive stories, regarding the ongoing struggles and opposition in the 21st Century, experienced by God-Loving Jehovah’s Witnesses world-wide on a daily basis. On account of their ‘unwavering faith’ as opposed to the ’religious concepts’ of mainstream churches of Christendom.

    Our Commentary:

Many untruths and lies have been spread by malicious opposers of Jehovah's Witnesses over the years. Judgmental individuals, who are ignorant of the facts, and have taken it upon themselves to claim to be in 'the know' in their zealous pursuit of discrediting Jehovah's Witnesses on the whole, in regards to what these God-fearing people actually believe, and who remain to be blinded and ignorant of what these people are really all about.

The curious fact remains, that their stories always resound negatively more vindictive and appear to be of a highly objectionable nature and witch hunt. Every religious institution has suffered in areas of sexual abuse, mental illness, bribery, and other ill-founded manifestations by a proportion of their adherents. Peoples from all backgrounds and religious dispositions can become afflicted with behavioral problems. For the same token people from all walks of life, irrespective of their past history can become Jehovah's Witnesses for all the wrong/rightful motives. Let us keep this in mind as God-fearing of Christianity in general.

It seems, however, that when Jehovah's Witnesses are brought to the attention of the media, invariably these common topics are highlighted for closer media and public scrutiny. There are some, that zealously make it their life's aspiration to pursue, target and condemn Jehovah's Witnesses as a 'whole.'

Admittedly there will be some members that have become Jehovah's Witnesses, who may have left behind an obsure and dubious past? Which perhaps surfaces later on. When they fall back into 'old habits' and intermingle their newfound ’faith’ with the kind of contradictory 'worship attitude', that is not acceptable to Jehovah. When these ones do take to re-offending, naturally, when this hits the news and the fact they had an affiliation with Jehovah's Witnesses, will make a delightful topic for much speculation. Should this automatically become a negative reflection upon Jehovah's Witnesses as a whole? Is this not an unjust and an ill-founded assumption of the reality?

However, some of these with a doubtful past do repent, and do strip off their old personality, and will feel compelled to put on a 'new personality'. They do try genuinely to live up to Jehovah's expectations and conduct their new lives as per according to true Christian Principles.
(Ephesians 4:22-24) Where did I read in the Bible that Jesus came for the 'sinners?' Maybe someone can check it out!

It would be just as unjust to go condemning every Catholic priest, Irish or Protestant adherent, or adherents of the Gay branch within the Church of England for example, for that matter. May any of us 'christians' ever be guilty of even judging the any of the manifold non-Christians religions that exist, i.e. Muslims - simply because some of their members are corrupt and use religious affiliations as a cover for more sinister motives. Does that justify the condemnation of all Muslims? Most of whom are lovers of justice and (perhaps we could follow their example) pray 5 or more times per day, and on the whole live a very religiously motivated lifestyle.

So, such an actiuon would be most unjust and remains to be an ignorant assumption on the side of those very gossip mongers and persecutors of God-fearing peoples everywhere, who proclaim to be 'true Christians'. A rather ambivalent and contradictory behaviour, that undoubtedly will reflect very negatively on their own Church.

Cinematographer Howard Shack packs up his gear on a location shoot in Los Angeles.

The documentary "Knocking,” screening at the Cleveland International Film Festival, has a Cleveland connection.

The cinematographer is former Beachwood resident Howard Shack, a 1994 graduate of Stanford University's documentary film program.

"Knocking” tells the story of Jehovah's Witnesses and was shot over the course of two years at Kingdom Halls (Jehovah's Witness meeting centers), conventions and in the door-to-door ministries in Texas, Georgia, Ohio and Nevada as well as in Austria and Poland.

"Knocking” graphically portrays how Jehovah's Witnesses won legal victories that protected civil liberties and free choice for all Americans. "Because their religion prohibits blood transfusions Jehovah's Witnesses risked their lives in pursuit of new bloodless technology now used on all types of patients,” explains Shack.

During WWII, Jehovah's Witnesses resisted Hitler and the Nazis. As a result, they were sent to the concentration camps where most perished.

"In making the film we followed three different characters and watched as each of them grapple with what it means to be a Jehovah's Witness,” says Shack. "We had over 100 hours of material portraying how an often misunderstood and maligned community has survived against the odds and helped us all in ways we never knew.”

    65 minutes. Screening at CIFF Fri., March 17, at 7 p.m.; Sat., March 18, at 2:30 p.m.; and Mon., March 20, at 9:45 a.m.

Note: It is also interesting to note, that the majority of Jehovah’s Witnesses have come out of other ‘faiths’ of Christendom. Most were not ‘born’ into it. The unpleasantries encountered and suffered are not a matter of choice, but is a drawback perhaps which knowing the ‘Truth’ carries along with it.
