Same boat. Different oar. Looking for work too.
I looked at the website. Looks just like Gray Marketing and quite a few other bogus job sites.

Also, look at this:

Yep, I'd do the same.
They are incorporated in Texas, not in 2002 but only last year

However, I doubt this is Defrawy's.

@unemployed, could you also publish the mail's full headers (with your name & email address removed)?Last edited by sorethroat; 01-03-2007 at 12:29 AM.

Re: JStar Advertising
Thanks unemployed.
Well, I think it definitely has nothing to do with Defrawy. Seems to me it is a very small outfit, in its startup phase. Website is a cheap template from some marketing franchise company, mailing appears to be from Texas via a free hotmail account.
I find it impossible to judge with any certainty if the intention is scam or not, it just as well may be sincere. Good luck in finding out the truth about it in real life.

Re: JStar Advertising
Well Jstar advertising AND Evantage are both fricken scams.
Walk into an office that is barely furnished i got a peak of an entire office empty no desk chair nothing. Guy keeps saying At&t is are client they ONLY use us. you can make 100k in the next 6 months. when i leave i ask for my resume back. They respond with we have already filed it away. at this point i realize i might as well forget about it its probably been photocopied and sold to another spam site. my email, phone, address. I cant wait for the **** to start piling in my inbox.

Re: JStar Advertising
Hang in there. Something will turn up. At least now you know.
Hopefully not a year at the airport like I did. You really don't want to be near large moving objects with near total blindspots.
If I have to sling boxes at big brown, I will.

Re: JStar Advertising
Maran91, you need to change your username to Moron91.
That username is far more appropriate.

Re: JStar Advertising
I went for the 10 minute interview today and felt like a dumbass. Did some digging and found that jstarmarketing@hotmail.com was used on a Howard University job bank listing in November, 2004. http://www.howard.edu/careerservices...-04jobbank.PDF
From that I pulled the name Danielle Carper, who was listed under Orange County, CA
J. Starr Advertising, Inc. - Danielle Carper - 765 The City Dr S. #375 Orange County, CA 92868 714-748-0018
I found Danielle's info at the bottom of a brilliant article on ripoffreport.com
http://www.ripoffreport.com/view.asp...0&view=printer
I'm tempted to go back tomorrow in a Michael Douglas Falling Down mood and shove some Staples staplers up a few Boilerwannabes asses.

Re: JStar Advertising
This is a great place to get basic sales experience to build upon, but is multi-level marketing. I know this as I worked there. The owner is a great guy and you can learn a lot.

got this bogus request today and it is a total scam

Subject: Re: Warehouse Workers Needed (Dallas)
Hello,
The email you replied to is a tentative offer of employment
for the available warehouse position with Johnson Distributors, Inc right off of 35
and Oak Lawn Ave.
As you saw in the ad, this position pays a generous hourly wage of
$13.25 - $15.50 base on experience with great health benefits, and also
provides potential to earn significant overtime income if you choose
to take advantage of that, when the opportunity arises. We are hiring
rapidly at this time, and are fully prepared to make you employment
offer, provided that you comply with the rest of the recruitment terms.
To accept these terms and move on to the next stage of the recruitment
process, you must provide us with a current copy of your credit
report/score to go in your employment file. The distribution center
has been having trouble hiring illegal citizens, and this prevents
from that happening. Johnson Distributors is requesting to pre-screen all
possible candidates for their credit score.
Your credit report/score will not matter, as it's rather an easy means
of verifying your identity and valid citizenship in the US. Below will
be a link to obtain your credit score for just a $2 processing fee. Once done, we
will be notified and process you for in person interview. We are hiring
5 workers but please act promptly, or the job will be taken. You will need to
bring 2 forms of identification with you to the interview, usually ID and Social Security card.
Please give us 3 days to process your application after the credit score submission.
Your score can be obtained here:
http://jobverify.net/job82217
We appreciate your interest in joining the team, and hope you decide to come aboard!
Chris Walker
