The documentary is called "Mea Maxima Culpa: Silence in the House of God" and it explores the impact of the Catholic Church's methodology for dealing with predator pedophile priests.

There has been a lot of media coverage about child sex abuse by so-called "men of God" since a number of high profile cases came to light, starting in Boston, in 2002. However, Oscar-winning director Alex Gibney believes insufficient attention has been paid to the deep systemic connections between the great many individual stories that this tragedy involves... connections that reach incredibly far up the Catholic Church's rigid hierarchy, and which paint a grim picture that leads the open-minded viewer to the inevitable conclusion that there was an institutional cover-up of massive proportions.

Mea Maxima Culpa opens in U.S. cinemas on November 16, and will air on cable channel HBO in February.
