Depending on the prostitution laws in your area, the answer is a qualified "yes".

From what I've seen of these Internet-based work at home schemes, the only ones I've seen consistently turn a income are adult services - escort, webcam-girl/boy, etc.

Can you write well (most everyone can)...? There are a variety of opportunities under that umbrella. If yes, just ask and I can refer you to some of the more lucrative opportunities. Not everyone likes writing, though.

If not that, you could do marketing (I hate sending people down that road but it is perhaps the most clear)

I can think of many ways you could build a residual income. What everyone says about scams is true...except it's an understatement. There are FAR more than you could ever imagine. This site is a valuable resource as far as that is concerned.

Don't be fooled, it's hard work. But if you're up to it, it's a good decision to work from home (I spent years learning what doesn't work so hopefully you can bypass that process!)

    Good luck.

All great suggestions except for the prostitution one. If you are skilled in a specific area, transcription or sales for instance, there are many companies who hire for these positions and let you work from home. Otherwise, you need to get creative and get as many "eggs in your basket" as you can, meaning you do a lot of little jobs throughout the day. This is what most people who work from home do if they aren't running their own business.

Most are scams. it is best to devote your time to finding a real job. you could try buying a franchise if you have some savings, but the economy is weak. most home based businesses involve selling and you are stuck with inventory that does not sell. also avoid outfits that you buy a list of names for sales. it is usually worthless. spend time looking for work:

It's been said more than once here.. and I did delete the posts from the person asking others to pm him/her for "real online job" information.

All this information is free and open to find. If someone wants you to pm them for the info it's because they are using an affiliate link for something stupid.

Here are links to real online companies who hire for real online jobs. This is not ALL of the companies but it's enough to get you started and give you an idea of what to really look for.

These are a few companies who hire for customer service jobs. There are others who hire for data entry, administrative, etc.

Re: are there any work at home jobs that REALLY work?

I was wondering the same thing until I tried and tested many of them myself. Here is the thing: I paid a $15 fee for ad posting. Yes, they give you the ads to post and which city to post them to, but the catch lies in the fact that as soon as you post your first ad, they ask you for your credit card info as you have to pay a fee for each ad you post. In this case they asked for $2.12! Outrageous! Next there is filling surveys, which I did for many months before I totally got the gist of it all. You want to choose the company that's worth your while, one which lets you pile points quickly to redeem. With Web Perspectives, you get paid $10 via Paypal after only 1000 points. But you must qualify for the surveys they have (and they have many). I've already redeemed my 1000 points twice through paypal. They are great, and they sure pay with gratitude. Now I am with several survey companies that reward nicely and quickly. I also recommend Mysurvy.ca.
Email posting will also cost you money per email that you post. Dreadful stuff. Finally, there is so much talk of mystery shopping being a scam but believe me, it is wrongdoing to many of these companies because some scammers use their name on those $4000+ checks that they send (I got one of those checks once and it was so fishy that I asked the teller at the specified bank to check its authenticity. Sure enough, it was counterfeit, not issued by them at all. Presumably, the scammer has something against the mystery shopping company (maybe he didn't deserve the pay and was disqualified by them before). Just a theory, but these honest companies (I work with many) stress right within their sites that we must never accept checks that bear their name and tell us to cash out 1000s of dollars at the bank and then wire a percentage of the rest and so on. These companies are struggling with stupid scammers who defame them in such ways.
Finally: becoming a mystery shopper sort of comes to you as a promotion when you've been filling out surveys for many months. I doubt completely that someone could go straight into mystery shopping without some type of prior work with market research companies and such. In the end, it's very rewarding and it pays much better. I got 30 dollars for my first two assignments. Not bad. We could all use Paypal money in so many ways!

yes, there are, but you usually have to pay a fee to find the best available opportunities. Don't think that you can research it all yourself if you really want the really good ones out there. If you're doing it yourself, you probably landed survey filling opportunities only, which don't pay very well. I got paid $10 twice by www.webperspectives.com and still earning points to redeem with MySurvey.ca. It's a painstaking process to earn money with survey companies. I paid a fee days ago to find the best mystery shopping companies around and I already completed two shops for ACE and one for Beyond hello. It's great if you can get in. I also got into ad posting and still trying this one out. It's good and you can really get paid.

There are so many work at home jobs it all depends with your skill set and where you look. Of course there are many scams also on the internet but it does not mean that you have to be afraid to try working online. Just make sure before you sign up to work a particular company, there is strong evidence showing that it is legit.
