    Faster-Than-Light Neutrino

The leader of the research team that shocked the scientific world last year with findings that seemed to show that neutrinos can travel faster than light quit his post this week.
After further experiments cast grave doubts on the original results reported by Prof. Antonio Ereditato and scientists working on the Oscillation Project with Emulsion-Tracking Apparatus (OPERA), some members of the research team wanted Ereditato to resign, according to the BBC.
For his part, the OPERA leader has not given a reason for his resignation.

    Re: Faster-Than-Light Neutrino

I think he handled this perfectly. From the outset, he said that he thinks the result is wrong, and he asked the rest of the scientific community to find out why. He was completely open and honest about the results from the start. No need for him to resign.

Scientists do tend to move from one position to another every few years, so the resignation may have absolutely nothing to to do with the neutrino experiments.
