IS THIS A SCAM!!!?? what do u think???

The car is still available sor sale and the price $5,500 is fine for me.

I am ready to accept an advance of $3,000 to be sure you are a serious buyer and I don't get back
to US for nothing. This way I will be sure that we will close the deal. After you confirm me the first
transfer of $3,000 I will make a reservation to come back in US and meet you to close the deal.
In normal circumstances Paypal is my favorite way of reciving the payment but unfortunately for the
moment i have some troubles with my paypal account because I'm out of country and i am forced not to
accept this method at this time.Anyway i hope this is not a problem because i am a Square Trade
member and all the payment process will be done through them.
If you agree with moving forward with the deal through Square Trade please email me as soon as
possible YOUR FULL NAME AND ADDRESS.
I would like to use Square Trade like a 3rd party for the deposit.
They develop the program Safe Harbour -Fraud Protection.I am a seal member and
that's mean I am backed up for all my auctions on ebay.I pay them fees for
    that!
    Look how they work:
1.I will contact them , and I will tell about this deal.
2.They will send us mail forms (the forms will be from customer support
team) for you about payment deposit.
3.Those forms must be filled by every part of this deal(me and you)
    with infos that they required.
    4.We must submit the forms.
5.After you will inspect the car , Square Trade will send me the
payment infos and I shall pick up the money.
    This means a 3rd party.
If you want to go on with this deal , mail me asap and I will require
    those forms right now.
As soon as i receive these informations from you i will forward them to Square Trade along with the
rest of the details in order for them to open a case regarding our deal. After you receive
the notification from Square Trade please give me an email and confirm me if we have a deal in order
for me to make a reservation to come back in US and meet you to close our deal.
    Regards and hear you asap!

It's a scam and this same description can be found all over the internet.
Think about it: A used car can be bought anywhere on Earth. Why yours?

Joshua Bowler........from what I gather this guy had a used car up for sale on e-bay and he sent you this e-mail you posted right? If he's a seller on e-bay then he must have some feedback and you can also see things that he's sold or purchased in the past too. Check it out and this Square Trade company too, find out about their policies on fraud to see if this guy does scam you, do you get your money back? Myself, nope wouldn't do it. I could find me a good used car right here in the USA instead of worrying about gettin ripped off from some guy whose only God knows where! Be careful.

Smells like a scam, I wouldn’t do this. I don’t buy/sell to anyone that’s not in the US. Paypal is accepted in 48 Countries which one is he in?

Plus I doubt very seriously that I would come back to the USA from another country just to close a $5500 car deal.

Re: IS THIS A SCAM!!!?? what do u think???

I got a similar email today... I am begining to wonder what are the odds? Can anyone tell me how I could expose them or to find out if they are real?

    Thanks.

    Below is the story:

The car is as good as new so you don't have to worry. Here are the most important details about the car :
    - US car ( US model , US specs )
    - odometer in Miles , speedometer in Miles per Hour ( MPH )
This car meets all Environmental Regulations in the USA ( DOT , EPA ) .
it has a clear title issued in US and it can be registred anytime under your name without a problem. It's absolutely perfect ,it has a clear title ,has never been repaired , never been involved in any type of accident or had any paint or body work done! I live in United Kingdom now where European specs are different from the American ones and it costs me too much driving this car legally here and also there is nobody interested in buying it here that's why I am selling it so cheap hoping to find a buyer in the US where it belongs.I inquired and the best and fastest way I can ship with is using Lufthansa Air Cargo and it takes between 5-10 days to arrive at your door and I will take care of 50% of the expenses which include shipping and insurance. We will use a safe payment method I am affiliated at Square Trade ,I have a a purchase protection account for 20000$ and I assume you know what this means.I will wait for your email to let me know if you are interested in knowing more details about the purchase.Thank you

Shipping the car to your place costs arround 2000$ which will be supported 50% by each of us.Square Trade is the third party involved who woill offer us both protection I am affiliated there with a protection account of 20000$. Let me tell you how we will make this deal:
1.You will have to give me your full name and shipping address and I will open a case.
2.You will be contacted by Square Trade
3.You will make a deposit of 2500$ at Square Trade
    4. I will start the shipping proces
5.In 5 to 10 days the car and all the documents that you need to pass it on to your name will arrive to the address you provided to SquareTrade
6.You will have 10 days to inspect and test drive the car
7.If -you want to buy the car you will send the rest of the money and the car will be yours
8.If there are any kind of problems with the car which I don't think will be the case, you will be fully refunded and I will take responsiility to pay around 200$ to ship it to the closest Square Trade warehouse until I find another buyer.
The deposit you make will be kept by SquareTrade until you will receive and inspect the car. There is no risk in this deal. The transaction is simple so everything should go as planned.I have to tell you i will sell the car to the first one who starts this deal by sending the deposit.Have a good day and hope to hear from you soon.

Re: IS THIS A SCAM!!!?? what do u think???

If you are going to do a deal like this go through a legit escrow company. I recommend escrow.com and have used them for some pretty substantial deals with some people I don't know from a hole int he wall.

NEVER use the thrid party the seller suggests unless it is a verifiable Escrow company that you can call and get details about the process. My guess is if you suggest the seller allows you to use Escrow.com the deal will be a dead one.

In case you have never used an escrow company, you pay the full amount to the escrow company plus their fees. They notify the seller that the payment has been received and confirmed. Seller ships product and you have between 7 and 14 days to inspect the product. Once you have received and inspected the product, you notify the Escrow company to release the funds. If you never notify the Escrow company everything is ok, they will release the funds to the seller at the end of the inspection period so be sure to notify them if their is a problem.

Safe, secure, and most scammers will not deal with real escrow companies.

Re: IS THIS A SCAM!!!?? what do u think???

After reading the post by "Regulation E", I decided to send Square Trade an email. I want to verify the seller and also to find out more for myself what sorts of payment they do accepts.

This is part of the email I received from the real Square Trade Compliance Department ending with squaretrade.com

    1. Square Trade is NOT an escrow company. Square Trade will NEVER hold money on behalf of an auction. Square Trade will NEVER ask you to send payment via wire transfers or Western Union.

    2. If you would like to verify if an eBay seller is a current Square Trade Seal Member, you can use the box on the bottom right of our homepage. Make sure the URL in your web browser begins with "http://www.squaretrade.com".

With the help of “hestercd” (another poster) I proceed to send the “seller” (Susan) a name and address (as she instructed). A day later I received an email from the supposing “Square Trade” with email ending with cs.support-squaretrade@usa.com!

Here are some of the suspicious things on the fake “Square Trade” to look out for…

    1. The email address is different ending with something else that is similar and look real.
    2. The email itself comes with logos and it looked like the real Square Trade, but if you try to copy and paste the whole page to another email, it acts like you are operating excel (which it is not suppose to do that).
    3. The is no contact number nor is there any real URL or email address to contact anyone!
    4. I have checked with the Better Business Bureau to verify if Square Trade is legit, the mailing address is identical with the real Square Trade (San Francisco, CA). Whereas the fake one had a fax number coming from Pennsylvania (area code).
    5. The fake email is from USA.com ??? Coming from Square Trade???
    6. The contact agent is in England that I am supposed to wire the money (cash) through Western Union!
    7. Here’s part of the instruction from the fake “Square Trade” on How to make payment: 1. Locate the nearest Western Union Office 2. Make the payment in cash using our Square Trade agent's information 3. E-mail or Fax us at our number 1-484-414-1719 with the following information: - MTCN - 10 digits number from the payment receipt - Sender Name and Address - Receiver Name – Amount
    8. We trace the email address of the fake seller with this email address: susanr7@msn.com... There is no such person with msn nor that email address… this person is in Romania!

I proceed to file a complaint with the iC3 - Internet Fraud Complaint Center (IFCC), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C).

I also file a complaint with Yahoo (which I doubt there will be much action on their part).

Last but not the least, I sent an email to Square Trade and give them a heads up on people using their logo and such. They sent me an email letting me know that someone with contact me regarding this issue.

I wish that there is more that I can do to stop these people, but for now I know that I will stop these people for awhile until they come up with another new name of something.

If anyone out there have more experience in regards on how I can disrupt their organization please feel free to let me know, it will never be too much trouble to stop them. The only problem is that people are not making enough noise to stop these people, therefore allowing them to keep scamming people!

I am glad that I found this site by accident, it safe me a $2500.00 USD! I would hate to see other people having to lose their hard earned money on this unethical people, buyers beware... do research before you commit any kind of personal information, back account and/or send money.

LOL, no there's no relationship. I didn't even know there was a KPIX until reading your post. It's short for kornish pixie - that's all. :)

ETA: I know you said no reply was needed, but I didn't want anyone to think there was any true relevance to my ID or that I was trying to misrepresent myself in any way.
