    Mercedes Benz Jack

Ok driving my friends Mercedes Benz v12 s600 and a tire blew out. I went to change the tire, I see a very slick setup in the trunk. I proceed to change the tire in the wet NY rain and the jack broke. Now you would think that a 140,000$ car would provide a German engineered piece of precision.

Mailing this thing in and will give you the results. Just found out....used once! 1 TIME!!!!

    Exactly.

Jeeze, it is in all probability already paid for in the service plan when you bought the over engineered, over priced, over hyped car.

    Why even have a jack.

    http://www.amazon.com/Slime-1034-A-T.../dp/B000ET525K

    Slime 1034-A Tire Plug Kit
(actually a different brand that doesn't have or need a tube of glue.)

Appreciate the advice guys. The point of the thread is to expose that a $140,000 gets you zero security when needed. The most simple thing was that this jack construction was inferior. My buddy has AAA, but I was borrowing his car and wanted to be a man and resolve the situation. If it was a snow storm or there were kids in the car and he didn't have triple A or a cell phone that was charged we would have been screwed. The point of the thread was that the FIRST time a jack was used, it broke. Stop with the 'everything else' stick to the thread and be mad at the company not the messenger.

There is NO excuse for this whether its a honda or ESPECIALLY the top of the line mercedez benz

I'm writing a letter, mailing the broken jack,....will give you the results.

Yup, I looked at the design of jack provided by Mercedes.

I think the decision to provide that jack was made by the marketing department rather than engineering.

I wouldn't trust that piece of crap to lift my bicycle.

The weight of the Mercedes s600 is over 5000 lbs.

There are a couple of problems with the jacks of this sort:
    1) The crank is close to stand, and likely does not provide enough leverage.
    2) The base is not wide enough to provide stability, and will likely sink into the ground if on the side of the road.
    3) The arm that transfers the weight to the stand is made of stamped metal.
    4) The stand is not directly under the car, but off center - creating a stability issue.

Buy a cheap Chinese made scissor jack. A 5000 lbs. jack will cost about $40.00 US.

Send the bill, along with your compliant to Mercedes. The jack provided is a safety issue. Be sure and use the word SAFETY - Germans take that word seriously, it will be read, noted, forwarded, documented, complied, placed in a data base etc. - with a copy sent to their in-house legal. Their American Legal Department, will be especially interested - 'billable hours'.

Cheap, safe, stable Chinese scissor jack rated at 5000lbs:
