    Whats wrong here?

This board should be at the forefront of the Occupy movement, but instead it is almost totally ignored. You are all so brain washed by Empire it is pathetic, accepting poverty for the masses while a very elect few waste what is left of the Worlds resorces. You have no problem with starving children as long as you can still dream of owning a beamer, something the system you defend makes sure that less than 1% of 1% of you will ever really own. Yet you suck up the dream just like the sheep have done for 5000 years. You never complain your children are the ones that die in wars that only make the rich richer and the poor, well dead. You seem to agree with Empire that the Bankers deserve the boneses paid to them from our bailout, you have no problem with your goverment spending billions to destroy lands far away that are others home. Or that our bridges are collapsing under our cars while we bomb, rebuild, rebomb, rebuild, the same bridge in Iraq 20 or so times. But it's not totally your fault, it started a very long time ago when souldiers from the war of Independance came home from war to find their farms fourclosed when the new Governement they fought to creat, renigged on paying them and the bankers who loaned their wives the money to survive fourclosed on their farms. When the farmers organized that same goverment that many of them died for, sent in the troops and put down the farmers and gave their farms to the bankers. This board should be at the forefront of this fight, instead most of you fools defend a system that keeps you from enjoying the better things in life, sends your children to die not theirs, can you all say "BAAAAAA"

    Re: Whats wrong here?

the children aren't starving in USA, they are obese. they are not the children of working people, they are the children of people that refuse to work and insist instead, on a government job, in an air conditioned office.

the mexicans are outside doing all the work, and, being the great country this is, their children do not go hungry or lack medical care.

OWS is a fraud. they are protesting the against policies of the obama administration, but they cannot say so.

i tried to warn everybody before the guy was elected. forcing electric rate to skyrocket is not going to create jobs and prosperity, gay marriage is not going to create jobs and prosperity, buying windmills from china and electric cars from finland...

higher taxes will not create prosperity.

    obama plan? tax, tax, tax.

Worried_in_the_USA stated this about how he feels that everyone should bring about change to the planet by investing their time and 3nergy into overthrowing everything that working folks have built for themselves, and give it to those who refuse to raise themselves up by the sweat of their own brow:

Please tell me, Wayne...what is wrong with working hard to build a life for yourself and those which you love? Despite what you've been told, life is not fair....never was...never will be...no matter what changes you and others happen to accomplish to the system in place. Yes, there are starving children in the world. Even if we adapted your methods totally in our world TODAY, there would still be starving children in the world, TOMORROW...and every day after.

The answer to this conundrum is that there is a multitude of people who cannot afford to have children living in the world, who must not have children living in the world, but who still have children living in the world....and it will always be that way, as they have no industry, and no personal incentive, nor the intellect, and no personal motivation to do the work required to give themselves and their children a decent living. You're going to tell them to stop having children?

Are you and your "new ideas" going to give these folks the internal motivation to accomplish the required work that they will need to do to raise themselves up? Or do you want to bring every successful person on the planet down to their level (with the exception of yourself, and your loved ones)? I personally fault no one for making a very good life for themselves, if that is what they wish, as long as they work in their chosen field of endeavor, and they followed the rules that are in place.

Being the hard truth, this certainly isn't fair..to those children, or their parents, but it will always be this way, as this is a way of life that is passed down from parent to child. You're going to go into their country and tell them how to live? What happened the last time someone told you how you should live?

Do you want to stop "squeaking" about the problems of the world and "change the world," Wayne? Change your thinking, as that is the only thing that you'll ever be able to really change.

The problem is that it can't last much longer and we will leave our children a dead planet. Profits before nature is going to kill us all. I raise Honey Bees, or at least I used to, now I just spend money trying to undo what Monsanto does to them. But hey, as long as everyone loves oatmeal and corn and hate vegies, were good. At least the share holders will have lots of cash when they eat mush!

I would rather support them than kill or starve them, bombs and fighter jets and such are very expensive. The world rather kill them than feed them, sweet.

don't worry so much. japan and germany were firebombed, left mostly rubble, in world war 2. after that, nuclear testing went on for years, including hydrogen bombs in the south pacific.

the earth is more resilient than you imagine.

also, nobody ever changed anything by worrying about it.

    don't worry, be happy.

    Re: Whats wrong here?

Japan and Germany had the United States to buy their cars, who do we have? Japan and Germany had our Honey Bees to pollenate their food, who do we have? Japan and Germany had 5 cent gas and $2 per barrel of crude after WWII we have $3.50 gas, $90.00 crude, and it keeps going up.

Within 10 years most Americans will no longer be able to heat their homes, then the crap will really fly.

I suggest everyone that likes vegtables starts learning to pollinate your gardens with feathers like they have to do in parts of China because they have already killed off all the bees there. At least one complete region has zero pollinators so they use fethers and pollenate the entire apple crop by hand. I wonder how much apples will cost here in the US when we have to pay migrant workers to pollinate them? Not only do my bees work for free, they even supply me with some Honey. I quess that is why Monsanto wants them dead so bad, they work for free, can't have that!

Wanta rethink that whole kum-ba-ya thing?

    Interesting, and I agree.

My personal opinion has always been this planet will exist for a long long long time to come. Life, very likely, will survive for a long time, in some form.

But humanity? Our position is tenuous, in many ways. It would only take a sizeable asteroid hit for us to go the way of the dinosaurs. But life would go on, it just wouldnt be us. Maybe smaller mammals. Maybe something else would grasp the opportunity.

Climate change isnt about apocalypse, its about change which can have serious consequences.

    Basically my opinion as well.

We are a planet of 7+ billion people with a built up infrastructure that we rely on and cannot live without. Our ancestors in the past just got up and moved. We cannot do that.

This cartoon sums it pretty well.

Your first post was about the ows movement and how it should be at the "forefront" of this board. You inferred that the "world's resources" were a large portion of the entire ows theme. I interpreted this from your continual returning to that environmental theme. I'm sorry....I certainly do not buy that premise, as most all information I've found about the ows seems to be related to jobs, a weak effort to level the playing field, and a "give me some of what you've got...for nothing" dynamics from people who appear to have run out of options for running their lives based on what their parents didn't give them to live on this month.

I feel that the assertion that the environment is another "cause" remedied by the call to arms from the ows folks is just a strawman, a position held by those that feel they've not enough ammunition against Big Business. The environmental cause of concern has been around far longer than the ows movement, and likely to be with us long after these children finally go back home.
As for your plea for restraining profits, that is part of what is right with the impetus of the movement, and what is wrong with it. Most anyone knows that to protest something that is totally out of your hands only shows the futility of your complaining. This adds irresponsibility to the ows resume.

Business has been around for a very long time. It has given you and me the tools with which we communicate these messages back and forth....and it has given you and me our freedom to complain about the "obscene profits" it makes. It puts food on our tables and money in our banks. ( But only if we go out and "whore" ourselves for it.)
I feel that everyone has the privilege and the right to go out and make something of themself...it only seems that lately these folks would want someone else to do it for them. Have we lost our individual ingenuity and our motivation? Or, with the youngest of us, was it never implanted by the parents?

The politicians only want to "look good" to everyone. They will only muck up the waters in which we all finally will drown in.....the problem being that when they make a seemingly fair law, they step on the toes of some other good, fair enterprise that was in place before. Laws are only in place for those who are without laws inside. "Gridlock" is your politician's middle name. 99% of them wouldn't sacrifice their cozy job for even one bad article in the back of The Podunk Register..

OWS will transform into what I suggest IMO. It seems like a natural start to what I dicribe, less gap between rich and poor in a non socialist enviroment. Repeals will be vonentary as global prices and finacial turmoil raise havic with the 99%, the 1% will join in or starve, as no one will be willing to do subservent labor to provide for them.

    My honest opinion.

Please show me just where this "axiom" occurs naturally in nature....that is, something is given to something else without compensation for the transaction. There must always be an exchange of en3rgies for every transaction in nature. Always, there must be a sufficiently intelligible pathway of reason, or a payoff (cost) behind the transfer. Heat flows from a hot surface to a cooler one, but only partially, at a set rate...depending on the color, insulation between the two surfaces, and proximity. The qualities of the two members compliment the transfer. They both have an investment in the transfer. A lion, in order to eat it's meal, must run down a gazelle, causing it to expend en3rgy.

The Law Of Compensation forbids a zero exchange of en3rgy in nature, (the proverbial "free lunch") so when we disallow, or break these natural rules the project is always doomed to failure, if not in the system, then in the individuals making up the system. There must be a differential of en3rgies between the "haves" and the "have nots." This is natural, as it gives incentive to those who work to give service and products to those of us who would need to procure said items. What happens to your car battery when both positive and negative terminals are equal? Why, of course, you have a dead battery!

To explain this law in all simplicity, it means that once the poor, destitute, weak, lazy, etc. are compensated for their inequality they will become expectant of the same treatments...all of their lives. It is a disservice to take over someone's life for them. You are effectively telling them subliminally, "You are not good enough to take care of yourself. But we will do it for you!" You are robbing these folks of a chance to have a personal victory in their lives. And some of them haven't had a victory in ages.

No, I don't wish to be responsible for any one's life, other than my own...and that of the children I'm responsible to raise up, until the're old enough to fend for themselves. This entire matter is about personal responsibility, IMHO.
Bottom line....folks must do their own lives....no matter the condition of their situation. Otherwise, we are raising a world full of cripples.
Most people can't think, most of the remainder won't think, the small fraction who do think mostly can't do it very well. The extremely tiny fraction who think regularly, accurately, creatively, and without self-delusion- in the long run these are the only people who count... Robert Heinlein

Is this the "Law Of Compensation" you're talking about?

fantasy. as soon as the average person has more money, the landlord raises the rent, the home seller raises his price, the politicians raise your taxes. the baker sets the price of bread based on what most people can afford. bread was a nickel - it's 2 dollars now.

if you try to take money from the rich with a 90% tax on income, they just hide their money or stop having income and live off their wealth.

    just fantasy.

And that's what someone is advocating? A 90% tax on income for the wealthy?

    Stupid.

Here's ya a fantasy. A capitalist society can be healthy and sustaining without a middle class.
At some point, yes, if TOO much wealth gets TOO concentrated into the hands of TOO few, you cannot have a sustainable capitalist society
