    Interesting Article about Conspiracy Theories

This was written 2 weeks after the 9/11 events:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/1561199.stm

This begs the question: Where do conspiracy theories come from? What is it in human nature that drives us to create alternative worlds peopled by shadowy figures?

Are we paranoid, delusional or just plain bored? ...

We create alternate realities because we reject the world where a single madman can bring down a president, a reckless driver can snuff out a princess... and a few men with knives can terrorise a country.
Yes, its our way of not accepting reality. That yes, the most simplest of explanations is usually the correct one. That all it takes is one person, not a thousands of inviduals, to have an effect on the rest of the world.

That question was already answered in another thread, but you chose not to accept it. If you're still haunted by the question I suggest you dispose of your predetermined answer and do a little serious research through engineering schools and associations.

Looking at this thread, I'd say conspiracy theories come from people with a substandard grasp of english.

If you wish to continue to discuss the events of 9/11 there is a thread about it already. And your question was answered, many times in that thread. Im not going to repeat myself just because you refuse that answer (the parts of the plane was found in the thousands of pieces that littered the lawn, and within the building itself). IF you dont want to accept that answer, that IS NOT MY problem, nor do I have to explain any other "reason" why you dont see a plane there since the only explanation is the one you dont accept.

Why dont you contact the investigators of the Pentagon crash and ask for their opinion and their research notes? They are only a phone call away, and their information can be found at numerous websites, including on the reports themselves.

So, what do you have to contribute about why conspiracy theories are developed in the first place? That is the subject of this thread, deary.

The date is indeed telling. Also the fact that it was published by the BBC, The Brits have parroted Bush's lies from the start.
On the subject of "Conspiracy Theories": they can easily be explained by the fact that those in power have consistently lied to stay in power.
And those in power also have to find a dirty name for critics and whistleblowers, “Conspiracy Theorists” is commonly used.
Even after facts have been well established to prove a conspiracy exists: {inconsistencies in the 911 investigation, lies that led us to War in Iraq.} The Conspiracy Theory card is still played to silence dissent.
Many of the events mentioned in the article are clearly conspiracies and they are fact not theory.
This is the construct of the ‘Big Lie’.
The media of course has complied and refused to report much of the info on Iraq and 911 that can easily be found on the net and here at this board.

    AMEN.

One conspiracy theory that I believe has more than it's share of unanswered questions is the RFK shooting. The "Red Diaries"/Marilyn Monroe connection (also related to the Monroe Murder Theory), the lady in the polka dot dress testimony (that the police coerced the witness into recanting), destroyed evidence... stuff like that.

    Doorway to Doubt
"When written in Chinese, the word crisis is composed of two characters. One represents danger and the other represents opportunity."
    -- John F. Kennedy

As to any guesses who a "second gunman" could have been -- someone close enough to inflict a near "hit" on RFK – there was only one suspect: Thane Eugene Cesar, the Ace Security guard. Holding onto the senator’s right elbow and remaining virtually half-beside him, half-behind him in the procession through the pantry, Cesar was strategically positioned to pump a bullet or two into Kennedy when all hell broke loose. Moldea thinks Cesar was incapable of such a crime, but he does admit that the guard did have a "motive, means and opportunity".

    Robert F. Kennedy assassination
Many claims of a "second shooter" point to a part-time armed security guard escorting Kennedy, a 26-year-old Lockheed aerospace worker named Thane Eugene Cesar who had been called to work at the Ambassador at the last minute by his employer, Ace Guard Services. According to witnesses, Cesar had been standing closest to Kennedy on the Senator's right and slightly to the rear when Sirhan had begun firing. Apparently, Kennedy suddenly grabbed Cesar's clip-on necktie with his right hand when hit as that tie was less than a foot away from the Senator's right hand while he was lying fatally wounded on the hotel's kitchen floor. Interviewed by Los Angeles police detectives shortly after the assassination, Cesar admitted on tape that he had removed his revolver from his holster during the shooting in the pantry but insisted he never fired it. Cesar also admitted to investigator Theodore Charach that he had owned a .22-caliber revolver similar to Sirhan's, but claimed he had sold the weapon in February 1968, a claim eventually proved to have been false, as it had been later discovered that Cesar had instead sold it three months after the assassination. The buyer of that revolver had later reported it as stolen. The revolver that Cesar had been carrying at the time of the Kennedy shooting was not test-fired by the police.
