Now I've been doing some research because I had a gut feeling this wasnt legit, and I think from what I have found this is a standard email scam ad. I decided to do the interview anyways just out of curiosity, and on the off chance that it was actually real. When the lady told me I would be paid either cash or direct depost I told her cash. (Precautions not given that info out to anyone) because I don't have a bank account (I do but wasnt going to tell her that). She wanted to know what bank I use in which I reminded her sorry no bank account. Then she wanted to know when I could have one started up. I said September but again it was to go along with her. This is part of the convo that pretty much confirmed the scam as copy and pasted off my chat history.

brown61698: I am just being cautious
Lisa Marcotullio: Yes,we too, that is why we had to set that up
Lisa Marcotullio: We won't like our name been used for illegitmate dealings
brown61698: Well as long as this is legit I apologize, and hope it doesn't affect anything
Lisa Marcotullio: It is ok.We have to be cautious in our dealings
    brown61698: That is understandable
    Lisa Marcotullio: yes
brown61698: Well I am willing to work so please do forgive me
Lisa Marcotullio: Its ok Ma'am,you are just taking the precaution measure which is necessary
    Lisa Marcotullio:
brown61698: yes exactly...so I recieve the items in the mail and I pay for the software packages correct?
Lisa Marcotullio: You will have to make the payment to our certified vendor and the equipment will be shipped to you overnight via fedex once payment is received
    brown61698: ok understand
brown61698: So when would I get the info regarding the certified vendor so payment can be made?
Lisa Marcotullio: You can make the payment asap to enable you get the equipment asap and starting training
Lisa Marcotullio: Do you need the info?
brown61698: Yes unless it was emailed to me then I can check my email
Lisa Marcotullio: Let me give you right away and when can you make the payment?
    brown61698: Probally sometime today
brown61698: I have to send my fiancee an email letting him know I have to use his credit card. I can't do anything until after that
brown61698: Tomorrow at the very latest.
    Lisa Marcotullio: Ok
Lisa Marcotullio: The amount is $400.00
Lisa Marcotullio: Are you ready for the info?
    brown61698: yep
Lisa Marcotullio: Hold on a second
    Lisa Marcotullio: Julie Puu

The last statement from her was an hour after I got off IM and I'm guessing she forgot she offered me a job. :freak3: Now I am not stupid, I went along with what she was saying to see what all she would say. There is no way I am forking over money to someone I don't know when I'm pretty sure a real legitamate job would cover the software expenses. I sent an email to the company (via there website) but I'm actually kinda convinced maybe the company is fake just because why would I have to pay $400 for computer software before I get any equipment?

    Dear Applicant,
Thanks for writing to confirm about the job offer. It is legit. We just
moved to the USA from canada. We are doing everything to get fully set up
and we are setting up branches in WA.We look forward to working with you
and we expect the best from you.

    Best of luck,
    Philippe Pierre
    Regional Manager,
    Zumex Construction.

They are saying its legit, but I can not find info on this company whatsoever online besides their website so I am going to say in my paranoia maybe the whole scam is elaborate. When I called the number given on the website (Las Vegas phone number) it went straight to voice mail with an automated recording. The website is zumexconstruction.com btw. This is just a scam right or am I just being overly paranoid?

you are right, it is all nonsense. you didn't say, but i bet they want you to send money ** western union?

never! western union just sends money, they assume you wouldn't send it to a fake name at fake address. the money can be picked up anywhere in the world, ** anybody who knows the details, which, of course, the sucker would send the scammer ** email. it's all over in a few minutes, sucker's money gone, forever.

Actually I did say. They want $400 for peachtree, office and some other software supposedly. I said I would talk to my fiancee about using his credit card. Which wont happen. No way am I sending them money but again just wasnt sure after reading everything if I am being paranoid, or what.

NVM saw the post under yours. Definetly confirms my suspicion of it being fake when it says created June 2011. Timing is everything.

Glad you were smart enough not to get sucked into this and very glad you posted the whole conversation so others can see it and hopefully not get taken in as well.

Real companies DO get tons of resumes but they never interview everyone and those they do interview aren't interviewed over IM.. :freak3: as soon as I read the interview would be over IM I expected it was a scam.

Re: Job scam or am I being paranoid?

I agree with mumbles and katiescorner, 100% scam.

    There is no job.

There is only a scammer trying to steal your hard-earned money.

The next email will be from another of the scammer's fake names and free email addresses pretending to be the "secretary/assistant/accountant" and will demand you accept a fake bank deposit. The deposit will be from a stolen credit card, hi-jacked paypal account or phished bank account. You are then suppose to withdrawal the money before your bank realizes the transfer was made with stolen money. You are suppose to send the "money" via Western Union or moneygram back to the scammer posing as the "supply company" while you "keep" a small portion. When the credit card/paypal/bank account owner realizes their money is in your account, your bank reverses the transfer now you get the real life job of paying back the bank for all the bank's money you sent to an overseas criminal.

The the local law enforcement agency comes knocking asking why are you accepting money from people you don't know, have never met and have no idea in what country they reside. ** now your bank account is permanently closed and you are "black listed" ** all financial institutions as someone who laundries money for criminals via Western Union or moneygram.

Western Union and moneygram do not verify anything on the form the sender fills out, not the name, not the street address, not the country, not even the gender of the receiver, it all means absolutely nothing. The clerk will not bother to check ID and will simply hand off your cash to whomever walks in the door with the MTCN# and question/answer. Neither company will tell the sender who picked up the cash, at what store location or even in what country your money walked out the door. Neither company has any kind of refund policy, money sent is money gone forever.

When you refuse to withdrawal the stolen money and send the scammer your cash he will send increasingly nasty and rude emails trying to convince you to go through with his scam. The scammer could also create another fake name and email address like "FBI@ gmail.com", "police_person @hotmail.com" or "investigator @yahoo.com" and send emails telling you the job is legit and you must cash the fake check and send your money to the scammer or you will face legal action. Just ignore, delete and block those email addresses. Although, reading a scammer's attempts at impersonating a law enforcement official can be extremely funny.

Now that you have responded to a scammer, you are on his 'potential sucker' list, he will try again to separate you from your cash. He will send you more emails from his other free email addresses using another of his fake names with all kinds of stories of great jobs, lottery winnings, millions in the bank and desperate, lonely, sexy singles. He will sell your email address to all his scamming buddies who will also send you dozens of fake emails all with the exact same goal, you sending them your cash via Western Union or moneygram.

You could post up the email address and the emails themselves that the scammer is using, it will help make your post more googlable for other suspicious potential victims to find when looking for information.

Do you know how to check the header of a received email? If not, you could google for information. Being able to read the header to determine the geographic location an email originated from will help you weed out the most obvious scams and scammers. Then delete and block that scammer. Don't bother to tell him that you know he is a scammer, it isn't worth your effort. He has one job in life, convincing victims to send him their hard-earned cash.

Whenever suspicious or just plain curious, google everything, website addresses, names used, companies mentioned, phone numbers given, all email addresses, even sentences from the emails as you might be unpleasantly surprised at what you find already posted online. You can also post/ask here and every scam-warner-anti-fraud-busting site you can find before taking a chance and losing money to a scammer.

6 "Rules to follow" to avoid most fake jobs:
    1) Job asks you to use your personal bank account and/or open a new one.
    2) Job asks you to print/mail/cash a check or money order.
    3) Job asks you to use Western Union or moneygram in any capacity.
    4) Job asks you to accept packages and re-ship them on to anyone.
    5) Job asks you to pay visas, travel fees via Western Union or moneygram.
    6) Job asks you to sign up for a credit reporting or identity verification site.

Avoiding all jobs that mention any of the above listed 'red flags' and you will miss nearly all fake jobs. Only scammers ask you to do any of the above. No. Exceptions. Ever. For any reason.

If you google "fake check cashing job", "fake job bank account Western Union scam", "money mule moneygram scam" or something similar you will find hundreds of posts from victims and near-victims of this type of scam.

Re: Job scam or am I being paranoid?

I just happen to live in the 89122 zip code. The address, 5448 JOCELYN Dr. is a 3 bedroom 2 bath single family home. If its corporate headquarters for anything I would be astonished. I would suggest that you contact the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and voice your concern. Their address is 400 E. Stewart Ave., Las Vegas, Nevada. Phone number (702) 828-3111. I hope that this has been helpful.
