Let's talk about those Google ads up top?

I can make $1200/hr!!! Let's see that's $2,400,000 in a year just by taking surveys. I guess if it's on a scam prevention site, it must be true. :D

Well, there's little/no control that scam.com has over the ads that are displayed. Hopefully now that you're here, you'll know how to do Due Diligence.

I’ve been ignoring these ads for a long time.
But I do have a question for those internet wizards at the board.
It appears that the banner ads that are selected by Google to be posted here are decided by key word hits at scam.com. That would explain why there are so many ‘Work at Home’ Banner ads and ‘Vacation’ banner ads. These phrases are common here. It appears also that they do the same key word targeting on a thread by thread basis.
Is that what the Google spider does, scan threads for key words to determine possible consumer interest in certain services and products?

That's exactly what it does - although the strange thing is that sometimes it picks up the most bizarre words and phrases. It seems to work on a combination of keyword matching and the price someone is prepared to pay, so sometimes the ads go off at a tangent.

They're a godsend to most webmasters though, they can generate revenue for just about ANY site imaginable. You probably won't get rich, but they usually cover the costs of running the site. VERY strict T&Cs though, which is a good thing.

And like an elephant, they never forget. They remember what you keyed in 3 months ago.

And sometimes they even read your mind!

Yep. We've had some interesting ads come up for threads about sex, homosexuality, and porn. So, I really hate it when a thread starts about those particular subjects, lol.

I think each site has a "default" set of ads that gets served up, but when the page gets properly indexed then the ads changed.

For some reason, my own web site ALWAYS starts with ads about projectors for day or so. Bizarre.

Ah well the Google ads aren't bad.. especially when you're in Google itself and you want to buy something. Often the ads are more relevant than the search results!

No. Advertisers can't see who is viewing the ads, but of course they can track who CLICKS 'em.

Well that is odd, because Google won't advertise things related to adult only content. They won't even advertise anything related to gambling.

Another interesting thing about the Terms And Conditions is that you are not allowed to refer to the adsense ads anywhere in your content in any way to attract additional attention to them.

    For instance, having something like
"Please support our site by clicking on our Google Ads" is RIGHT OUT of the question, and will generally result in Google banning your adsense account.

Now this raises the question...what happens if some git in a forum (like this) says : Hey everyone, this forum (scam) is really cool, you should all click on their ads to support them!

I wonder what would happen if google found that?
