New Scam!!InstaCash!2010 Read Now!Very active scam

    Scenario:

You or a friend receives a message from a man claiming to be from a company that you have never heard of, telling you that you need to call them asap or else its your ass (basically).

When you call back they will ask you what your phone number is

*this is to figure out who they called and what lie to disseminate.

Keep in mind everything that what comes next is meant to deprive you of all hope therefore manipulating your judgement making you believe that you are in a lot of trouble.

*note this is actually kind of genius i.e. strip the target of hope and then give false hope!

After they have identified who you are they will either connect you to another person, normally a man, or they will commence to discuss your "case" with you, the accents of the scammers is thick and possibly derived from East Asia. Next they will inform you that earlier in the year you took a loan or borrowed money from the company that they represent "InstaCash", you will be informed that you borrowed money and that because you did not pay, charges were pressed and you will face the extent of the law unless you pay a much smaller fee usually around the tune of $900 dollars. This is where you say Um no sorry Ill have my lawyer get in touch with you. :) Then you change all your net passwords and unsubscribe from as many unwanted emails you have floating into your box due to misc. as u can. This happened to my roommate today and of course it did not work due to the fact that I read about this sort of thing almost everyday. When and if this happens to you try to extract as much information about them and what they know about you before you end the conversation in order to better protect yourself after the interaction.

Finally it is your responsibility to protect yourself and your information by knowing who you are exchanging it with, many fraud website and fake orgs will lure you in telling or promising you money our other things and usually if it seems too good to be true it is. Take it easy and good luck to you all.

Re: New Scam!!InstaCash!2010 Read Now!Very active

I received a call similar to this. The gentleman stated that he was from a lawfirm. The had a deep accent and I could not understand half of what he said. He told me that I received a payday loan earlier in the year and that the money was never paid back. When they tried to take it through EFT non sufficient funds came back. He stated that he was representing Insta Cash and charges were being brought against me. I said I knew nothing about this and said I would check on it and give them a call back. He gave me their number and told me to ask for a specific extention.
When they called no number came up except 0000. I check my account and there have been no non sufficient funds. What should I do just ignore them?

    Any help would be appreciated.

I gave them nothing. Told them i had to check into and would call back. Never did. They called a couple more times and must have given up when I didn't answer. Haven't heard from since.
