    Firmdale Hotel Scam

    :judges::judges:hi just call me jun i am 26 years old from Philippines and i am a job seeker in hoel industry here is my story..... Early this morning May 17, 2010 i receive an email coming from Firmdale Hotel they are offering me Hotel Jobs Staff, but the offer is to good to be true so i decided to check some stuff on the net then suddenly check their website and check the recruiter is jakob hansen and he uses this email jakobhansen@hushmail.me, after my research on the net i found out that mr jakob is using this legitimate email address when sending an offer of employment which is [email protected], i posted this message because i dont want other people to be a victim imagine they are asking me to pay 3,000 pesos payment for the International Language Training, so i posted this to warn everybody! about this scam here is the full body of the email that i receive! after i forwarded this email to the office of firmdale there reply is

    This is a fraudulent offer off employment. Please do NOT send any information, documents or money to these people as they are not acting on behalf of Firmdale Hotels.

    Our IT department will be in touch to take further details from you.

    :people shoud be smarter today! so many scams!.... here is the internet you can search freely before getting abused! firmdale pls do something about this! there are people who are trying to use your NAME... they should be in jail!!!!

    a friend of mine have received a similar exact format letter . . however this one is using the name sofitel and its manager denis c. dupart. . . its true that Mr. Dupart is the manager of Sofitel London however I don't think that Firmdale and Sofitel have the same recruitment firm and recruitment style . . . what you did was right . . verifying the information to the company or have the embassy verify the information is the right thing to do . . ganyan talaga yan using time pressure na pag di ka nakapag avail di ka na pwede kaya yung in badly need of a job, having an opportunity like that arise eh talaga naman mag babayad kahit mangutang . . . basta check and verify the info para sure the pray to God for guidance . . as for the victims have the NBI and Media investigate for sure they can obtain search and arrest warrant to have this people arrested . . they can also compel phone and mobile providers as well as LBC to cooperate peacefully of be compelled by the court. . .

    ive noticed that the landline number they used is all the same... we can buy nga pala a sim card for pldt for those people paid this for sure tatapon na lang nila ung sim card na un! at wala na! tsk tsk tsk

    Yes, that is the 'fake job overseas' type scam. While the hotels might be real, the emails are not from them.

    Legit companies do not ask for money up front for visas, training, classes, passports, certificates, paperwork, etc. Legit companies do not randomly send out emails to strangers asking them to apply for a job.

    The reason the scammer wants all the information about the money transfer texted to him is so he can easily withdrawal the money and disappear with your cash.

    Posting here and on every scam-warners-fraud-watching site you can find will help other potential suspicous people not become a victim.

    Unfortunately, many have received the very same email from Mr. Jakob Hansen requesting payment for an International English Test for a so-called job at the Firmdale Hotels.

    And unfortunately I paid the 3,000.00 required payment for the said test. We called their office here in Makati and a Filipino "Vice President" of Firmdale Hotels answered. We inquired if the offered jobs are legitimate, and they dared to have us visit their office located at Makati Executive Tower. Since we believed this "Vice President" we still waited for their IMPORTANT ADVICE. We waited until Friday night but they texted that the Training/Seminar/English Test was postponed until the 28th.

    It wasn't until we searched for Firmdale hotels that we found this site.

    We have decided to personally visit their office and demand for a refund or else let the NBI deal with them.

    We hope it's not too late for those who received the same email.
