Re: Help Animals for FREE:The Animal Rescue Site

My Mom went to a animal shelter. She was looking at different dogs, most were barking and trying to get attention. There was one dog though that was not barking. This dog just looked at her with the most sad eyes and her heart went out to this dog. This dog must of thought no one would have him. I don't know what compelled my Mom to go into an animal shelter that day, but she did. She got the dog, and called my Dad and said I'm bringing a dog home. My Dad was surprised, and was saying what did you do? He was not thrilled at this as it was quite the surprise to him. So on the ride home my mom told the dog, sully is the dogs name.

Your going to have to win (my Dad) over. So once home the dog ran upstairs right to my dad. It was the first thing he did, he came and said hello to my Dad.

This is a little heart wrenching for me as my Mom has passed on.

My Dad still has Sully. That dog is a great dog.

I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your dear mother, howdy. I know this was difficult for you to share with us and time never does seem to take all the pain away that comes with the loss of our parents. You have told a story of your mother that shows she felt compassion for a dog, such that she couldn't leave him behind. We will never know what brought her to the shelter that day. Maybe she was meant to find a family canine soul-mate and Sully was meant to be your Dad's faithful companion. I've known dog stories to tear me up and this one did not fail to do just that. xo

I love this story, Eric. Perhaps it was meant to be that your Mom got this dog, who as it turned out, would be the companion, carring a piece of her heart and her love and compassion, for your Dad, after her passing. I believe in things such as this. While it is terrible to lose a loved one, you have their love, their memories, their words and their deeds to carry in your heart and in your mind forever. They never leave you. They are a part of you, always.

The way things happen and turn out sometimes are both strange and wonderful at the same time

I saw this story on the news last night and it's already on youtube.
What a blessing that workers made the discovery they made:

That is great. It just made me miss my rotten old kitty a whole lot more now. She has been gone for a little under a year now. We had to put her down as the vet said that there was nothing they could do for her any more. We had her for a little over 19 years. She was more than a pet. She was part of our family. And is missed just as much an any of us would be.

That's so sad OT. We do love them as a family member and that is joy in having pets, as short as their stay is with us.

Her stay here may have been short, but her memories will live on with us forever.

OT, what are you waiting for? You are moved and settled in now. It's time to go and rescue a new little furry and bring that love and joy and companionship back into your home for you and Linda. Visit a shelter and save a baby!

It isn't that we haven't thought about it. It is just the memory of Patches is still so strong that there are times we can almost sense her presence here. That little thing was so much more than any other animal I have ever seen. We got her when she was barely able to be away from her mother. The very first night she clawed her way up on the bed and curled up next to me and stayed there all night. She soon seemed to learn that I was hard of hearing because when ever there was someone around, she would go to that spot. The front door or where ever the noise came from and then run back to me. she would keep on doing this until I got up to go see what it was. She even did it if the phone rang. After a year, she was certified as a service animal. And that is the only reason we could have her here as they have a very strict no pet policy. The manager has told me that if my doctor will give them a letter stating that he thinks I should have an animal for my safety it would be OK. In time maybe, but not right now.
