    The Democrats’ Thin “Agenda”

When it comes to their national security agenda, Democrats have discovered the next best thing to their usual blank sheet of paper: a “plan” that consists of a whopping three pages of platitudes.

    Here it is:
    http://a9.g.akamai.net/7/9/8082/v001...alsecurity.pdf

    WOW! A whole three pages!

    Re: The Democrats’ Thin “Agenda”

Was there anything in particular you had issue with, or were you just being facetious?

Lets post a few to see if you have anything to dispute....

    * Rebuild a state-of-the-art military by making the
needed investments in equipment and manpower
so that we can project power to protect America
    wherever and whenever necessary.

    * Guarantee that our troops have the protective gear,
equipment, and training they need and are never
sent to war without accurate intelligence and a
    strategy for success.

    * Eliminate Osama Bin Laden, destroy terrorist
networks like al Qaeda, fi nish the job in
Afghanistan, and end the threat posed by the
    Taliban.

    * Eliminate terrorist breeding grounds by combating
the economic, social, and political conditions that
allow extremism to thrive; lead international eff orts
to uphold and defend human rights; and renew
longstanding alliances that have advanced our
    national security objectives.

    * Secure by 2010 loose nuclear materials that
terrorists could use to build nuclear weapons or
    “dirty bombs.”

    * Redouble efforts to stop nuclear weapons
development in Iran and North Korea.

That took up less than a third of a page and contains a greater comprehension of reality than the entire Republican opuscule.

    Re: The Democrats’ Thin “Agenda”

I'm still waiting for someone to explain the Republican agenda. Allowing Bin Laden to escape and then just "not thinking much about him" (-George W. Bush), pulling troops out of Afghanistan to attack Iraq (which wasn't involved in 9/11 but Saudi Arabia was). Bringing down Saddam (OK) but then allowing full scale looting, dismissing the Iraq Army thereby putting 100's of thousands out of work, destroying water and electrical plants that still aren't in full function, inflaming the Middle East so multitudes of Islamic fanatics pour into Iraq to fight the Satanic West, sending troops to fight without adequate equipment or adequate troop numbers, forcing troops to stay way past their service time with the "stop-gap" program. Slashing the military budget and forcing injured vets to pay more out-of-pocket for their medical care but awarding Halliburton and KRB huge non-bid contracts for their less than adequate service to our troops. Let nearly 9 billion dollars go missing in Iraq and not make one iota of effort to find out where it went. Building a 600 million dollar embassy the size of 800 football fields in Iraq while their hospitals and infrastructure still sits mostly in shambles (kind of like our Gulf Coast after Katrina) and then have the balls to claim that THEY, the Republicans, can better protect us from the very terrorists they ignored before 9/11 and continue to create. Don't kid yourself folks, attacking Iran was in the works before we attacked Iraq and next on the list is Syria. Wonder what fairytale they will cook up to attack that country? Oh, I know! Iraq's WMD's were sent to Syria so now we will have to attack in order to find them. Iran offered to help us find Bin Laden and to fight against Al Qaeda but Bush chose to ignore their offer. Ummm, could it be because he had future plans for Iran? Valerie Plame was a covert agent investigating Iran for any development of atomic weapons before Cheney outed her and caused the program to be shut down. Wasn't that convenient! These people are treasonous pigs to the 10th degree! We have a 9 trillion dollar deficit and our infrastructure is suffering yet what do the Republicans offer up for solutions? A huge tax break for the wealthiest Americans, let's overturn Roe and restrict contraceptives, and have an amendment to discriminate against gay people because they want to enjoy the same protections in their committed relationships as straight people can and/or prevent them from adopting children who need loving homes, cook up Medicare Part D to benefit the pharmaceutical companies while hurting the elderly, and doing everything they can to destroy Social Security (one of the most successful government programs ever created). Yep, when it comes to destroying everything good about this country these NeoCons sure have some swell solutions. They deserve to be re-elected just about as much as we all deserve to get the Bird flu.

Hmmm... Lets take a look at this.

Let me get this straight... The democrats are now proposing increasing spending on our military? Well, that's a switch... We wouldn't be discussing this if our military equipment hadn't been depleted by 28% during the Clinton administration in the first place. If it would have been sustained to the level it was at during the Reagan/Bush I era, this wouldn't be an issue.

    * Guarantee that our troops have the protective gear,
equipment, and training they need and are never
sent to war without accurate intelligence and a
    strategy for success.
See my last quote... As for the intelligence, that is what the creation of Homeland Security was in part for. This is a goal of both party's, so what would the democrats do differently than has already been done?

    * Eliminate Osama Bin Laden, destroy terrorist
networks like al Qaeda, fi nish the job in
Afghanistan, and end the threat posed by the
    Taliban.
This is a given, but how?

    * Eliminate terrorist breeding grounds by combating
the economic, social, and political conditions that

This is bull. The first part suggests that we can effect the living conditions of countries we have no part in governing. How would we do this? Create a world wide welfare system? The second part is something that both the Afghanistan and Iraq invasions achieved. The third part is also a given and isn't specific about how they go about doing this.

    * Secure by 2010 loose nuclear materials that
terrorists could use to build nuclear weapons or
    “dirty bombs.”
That in part, is why we went into Iraq in the first place. Even though they didn't pose that particular threat, intelligence agencies world wide believed he did. I would also ask "How do the democrats plan on doing this".

    * Redouble efforts to stop nuclear weapons
development in Iran and North Korea.
This is also a "Gimme". That is what is taking place now, so what is it the democrats offer up that is better that what is being done at the present?

That took up less than a third of a page and contains a greater comprehension of reality than the entire Republican opuscule.
This looks a lot like what the republicans have always stood for in the first place. If the democrats think they can do a better job of achieving these things, along with the few things they talk about that I haven't seen the republicans talk about in the past, they still need to do one thing...

Tell us how they are going to do it?

The democrats have some good Ideas, but without a plan it's nothing but lip service.

Good point. Then why did they do just the opposite. Did they think we wouldn't notice? Or was it just another pack of Republican lies.

They have some exceptional ideas, and the first part of the plan is to get rid of that lying sack of sh!t currently residing in the White House.
