there are two main parts of auto insurance. liability is one part and is required everywhere. without liability insurance, you could be found at fault, destroying somebody's life or property, and then say, oh well, i can't pay anything, because i spent too much buying a really cool car.

if your car is financed you will have to also get comprehensive insurarance to protect the finance company from loss from theft or collision.

if you have a low value car that is paid for, not financed, don't pay for theft or collsion insurance, because the cost of insurance will be more than the car will be worth at the time of loss. it doesn't matter if you love the car, the insurance company is going to pay the book value.

i always buy a used car, check rates at maybe 3 or 5 major insurance companies, like geico and state farm. state farm always has the lowest bid for me.

Just exactly how are you being scammed by car insurers.

Well, I'm engaged to a claims adjuster. There's an inside trick that they use but they'll never tell you.

Besides your driving record, there is also something they call "High Risk" zip codes.

Different companies have different statistics on what they consider "High Risk".

    Here's an example:
    • Your friend lives in a zip code 10 miles away
      from you.
    • You and your friend use the DIFFERENT Auto Insurance
      companies.
    • YOUR zip code has had lots of accidents with
drivers insured by YOUR Auto Insurance company.
    • Your friend's zip code has had relatively few
accidents with drivers insured by your company.
    • YOUR company will see YOUR zip code as "High
      Risk".
    • Meanwhile, your friend's Insurance company will
give him a big fat discount because very few of
their drivers have filed claims within that zip
      code.
    • At the same time, your FRIEND'S Insurance company
may have very few claims coming from YOUR zip code
so THEIR rates will be much cheaper where YOU live.
    • So you see, 2 different Auto Insurance companies
can have completely views on the risk factors of
      YOUR zip code.
So you can find a company in YOUR zip code which will have really cheap rates. I know it's a real pain to find them.

But there's also a database that contains this info.

    Check this site

Enter your zip code and some basic information and you will get a list of companies that consider your zip code "LOW RISK" and will have cheaper rates.

    Hope that helps!
