it usually is best to book directly at the hotel. sometimes if you travel with an air carrier like Southwest airlines, Texas they offer deals with rental cars. also at the airport in most cities they have a kiosk or directory of motels at baggage claim area and list motels close to airport many with shuttles and you can get good deals then once you land. if you have a certain branded credit card like AMEX SPG ( Starwood preferred) or Marriott they have 800 numbers and can offer hotels in certain cities. usually those discount booking sites are not all that good a deal and with calling hotel direct you know you have the room at a certain price. sometimes clubs or groups ( e.g. AARP, AAA) have confirmed deals and rates so it is worthwhile to join groups and mention that to the hotel when you book . for large resort cities like Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Beau Rivage go to the hotel web site for the best deals

It's always better to book hotels by phone

I only book my accommodation on credible apps or website like Agoda. My least favorite is Trivago, I feel scammed as the website only show expensive hotels.

I started to use https://planetofhotels.com/en/usa/kissimmee/condorito recently. They are much more better comparing to booking.com It's new but really interesting.

Otel.com is a notorious site for scamming.

    Booking.com

I booked via booking.com, the date changed in the background, while I was completing the form, the hotel did not honour the booking, but I STILL GOT CHARGED!!!

Hotel was Menzies Strathallan Birmingham. Stay well away!!!
