Has anybody received a $5,000 check from UBI

I received a letter from UBI Payment

Services P.O Box 4805 Robina Town

Centre QLD 4230 Australia. It says that

I am guaranteed to receive $5,000 if I

return the release form and fulfill the

contest requirements. There is no other

information about the requirements.

They say that this is a contest with

additional tiebreakers to determine a

winner. There is no purchase, payment

or contribution necessary to enter to

win. All I have to do is sign the release

form and circle the right answer to a

puzzle. The puzzle is what is 20+5

then mail the form with an international

stamp

They could be phishing for your personal info. Or they just want example of your signiture to scam you later.

Re: Has anybody received a $5,000 check from UBI

I received the same letter a couple of days ago. Was wondering if anyone ever sent theirs back?

Did you notice that the address to mail to was Australia but the return address on the original envelope was from Singapore in c/o T M F?

Would be interested in seeing what he/she is actually accomplishing with this scam. Even though it is REALLY obvious it is a scam - it is still psychologically hard to not reply - therefore, I'll bet a lot of people do!

Has anybody out there replied to one of these letters and then found themselves a victim of Identity Theft?

If not, they may be running a scam that we are not even aware of yet!?!

Hint, hint, ...It's a cliche', but it applies 100%

...If it looks too good to be true, it probably is!

The BIG red flag, there's a 'guarantee' and it's a 'contest', based on simple addition that a first grader can figure out?!

Dude, you're much smarter than that! Aren't you?

SCAM!! 100%, and I don't even have to know any more or see the site, or the letter...it's a SCAM!

Kerry

Re: Has anybody received a $5,000 check from UBI

Hi, I just joined today, and UBI is still at it. I searched the internet and found other people who followed the instructions. They got the $5,000, then were told to send $3,500 back to Australia as a fee for their new prize of $50,000. No $50,000 ever showed up, and the $5,000 turned out to be a bogus check. So if there is anyone else out there getting this letter, TEAR IT UP! Its the same old scam with a new spin.

Re: Has anybody received a $5,000 check from UBI

im sick and tired of these scammers scamming hard working people like me,you know im gonna put an end to this phishing bait, what im gonna do,and what i recommend you all do is,...go ahead sign this release form from UBI payment services, but wait, dont be dumb, and stupid to actually sign your real signature, just fake and return it,and wait and see later on,if they attempt to open an account under your name or get personal, financial info about you, they would be in for a surprise, they wont be succesful, cause instead, they would be charged for forgery, for attempting to forge your signature for financial, personal gain.THIS IS WHAT AND FEDS WOULD INVESTIGATE,identity THEFT,AND SIGNATURE FORGERY!,like the old saying goes,"TO CATCH A CRIMINAL,YOU GOTTA THINK LIKE ONE!",AND STAY AHEAD OF THEM.guys tell me what you think?email me back

alpha90004@yahoo.com.thanks,and HAVE A HAPPY,BLESSED,HEALTHY,PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU!!!

Re: Has anybody received a $5,000 check from UBI

I had received on 12/29/08 from UBI Payment Services on the 5,000 and without checking followed instructions and sent back on the same day to Australia. Fortunately, I have not received anything. I will destroy when I receive it. Thank you for the insight. C.West

Re: Has anybody received a $5,000 check from UBI

There are folks who specialize in this kind of fraud ... Check 419 Scam ..

Mail you a check, you deposit it in your bank. You mail in some of the $, keep the rest.

Check turns out to be fake, bank wants their $ back.
Victim is -liable- for the missing $.

I have seen a couple 419 eaters who have over $2,000,000 in fake checks taped to their walls, though it is dangerous to bait these types of scammers.
