Re: Uk Online International Lottery Scam
I got suckered into one of these UK lottery scams, I acutally sent them $890.65 so they could courier my winnings to me, ($285,902.00 USD). I am so stupid, I really thought this was for real. Now they keep e-mailing me wanting more money for some kind of tax before they can send me my money. I told them that I could not pay anymore money, & asked them to send my original money back, they said that they would send my money back, but it would mean that I would forfiet all my winnings. I told them to send my money back, but I really don't think they will. I have filed a complaint with the internet fraud complaint center. There probably isn't anything they will be able to do. I have'nt even told my husband about this, cause he will kill me for being so stupid. I am glad I found this site before I did send them more money. I could have really used $285,902.

Hi
Sorry for your loss, but please don't send anymore money even if they promise you a full refund! Its a total scam, the UK does not have any lotteries that run on these lines, by email, post etc.
The only way you can win money in the UK lottery is, if you but a ticket for the Main draws on a wed or sat or the daily plays at a lottery outlet. You can buy online also through the main UK lottery website.
Anything by email or post BIN BIN BIN

Re: Uk Online International Lottery Scam
Hi everyone!
Every day since Jan 3rd, I have been in correspondence with someone who claims I won the DEC 31st lottery drawing in the UK. I have never played it but my email address was linked to the winning numbers. I have been playing this guy cuz I know that I did not win nine million dollars by my email address. Anyways, I am seriously considering trying to catch this guy. I feel bad for all the people that have been victimized. They also told me that a courier would deliver my winnings for a fee.
So, during the last correspondence, he wants me to send some wiring instructions to a ******* company in England so they can wire my "winnings" into an account. I know of a friend at a bank that would, at my request, freeze any withdrawals into an account but allow deposits. I am hoping that they would be able to determine who was given access to deposit money.I also plan on removing all of my cash in my bank account so they can't do anything.
So, what do you think everyone? Should I contact the FBI, Scotland Yard, local police? I really would like to see someone get punished or caught or something. By the way, my heart goes out to the people that lost money from these jerks!

Re: Uk Online International Lottery Scam
Don't bother. For a start, law enforcement is not interested in this type of fraud. And, since it's likely the scammer is in Nigeria, they would have no jurisidction even if they were interested.
Also, you're playing with this scammer but he has your real email address, and you're now about to give him your real bank account details. Don't EVER let scammers know your real details - this one might be in Nigeria but they have contacts all over the world. Do you really feel safe knowing that he has your name and address?
And lastly, you seem to be misunderstanding the basic logic of these scams: there is NO money! NO money would be deposited into your account!

Re: Uk Online International Lottery Scam
Leela, You seem to know about this type of scam. Any idea how they target people? The reason I ask is that my husband was targeted when he was laid off many years ago (it was common in the oil industry at the time). We were absolutely bombarded with personally addressed mail and telephone calls. I was amazed by the information they had about us. The craziest was a psychic - who wrote 15 letters with promises of important or dire news that she had to communicate. I wrote to tell her she must not be very psychic if she had a vision that we would send her any money. I shudder to think the number of desperate people who did fall for her scam.

Re: Uk Online International Lottery Scam
Hi Linda
Most scammers buy this information, and many less scrupulous companies are happy to sell their customers' details and don't much care who to. Scammers also sometimes use software which extracts email addresses from websites.
As far as your email address goes, you should only give this to people you know - family and friends - and only use it to register on websites that have a policy of not passing your details on to third parties; this should be clearly stated in their privacy policy. Make sure your email address is not visible on any website or forum.
If you're still being bothered by phone calls and junk mail, the Canadian site Phonebusters ( http://www.phonebusters.com) might have some useful information and you could try the Canadian Marketing Association's Opt Out service ( http://www.the-cma.org/consumer/donotcontact.cfm) to stop the junk mail.

Re: Uk Online International Lottery Scam
Hi Guys
I got this one too in Australia. it sounds too good to be true, so it had to be
I had a little fun and sent the following, just to put the wind up them a bit.
HI William
I was just thinking that, seeing as this is so important. I should have my nephew call in to talk to you.
I trust him implicitly as he is ex Defence force security and Ex London police.
I will let him know your address and get him to call in to see you to arrange the delivery.
He actually is all of the above and lives in London too. It would be fun if he caught them, But I doubt it

Re: Uk Online International Lottery Scam
Hi,
My mom received these mails to and just before I could even tell her that this was a scam she sent £650 to the couriers, and the best part was that I even tried calling these guys and they hardly spoke english, and they are suppsed to be residing in London. I have no idea how to get that money back though I live in The Netherlands. But please if any one receives any kinds of mails stating lottery wins please do not respond they just want money from people who work hard for money.

Re: Uk Online International Lottery Scam
Sorry to hear your mother lost money - please report it to the police. They won't be able to do anything, but the more these crimes are reported, the better chance there is of law enforcement having to start taking this issue seriously.

Re: Uk Online International Lottery Scam
On the other hand, why waste money phoning these scammers?
You can get information on the phone number:
http://www.numberingplans.com/?page=...is&sub=phonenr - however, if it's a follow-me number, you could be calling any country in the world.

Re: Uk Online International Lottery Scam
What makes you think this scammer is in the UK? And do you really think the name he has given you is real?
And I'd be very interested to know what this "UK data security and scams team" is.
If you don't want to post the answers here on the public forum, feel free to PM me.

You aren't the only one to fall for this. I got the same type of email from them stating that i had won $921,201.00. I sent in the requested info, then told to send the money. My husband and I are a one-income,low-income family so when I saw the huge amount of money they wanted me to send, I started checking and found this site. After reading the others, I've noticed that basically the same number keeps showing up, including the serial # and KTU #. Like you, we could have really used the money.

Re: Uk Online International Lottery Scam
That email is not really any different from the usual scam format - they all say the same thing! Also, www.uknationalemaillottery.com looks very like a fake site - I'll investigate it further.
You should forward the emails - with the full headers - to abuse@btinternet.com because the email address used by the scammers is not a free one, and BT will have records of who paid for it. They will also shut down the account.

Re: Uk Online International Lottery Scam
I reported this fraudulent site to interlotto.com who are going to take legal action. They've helpfully put a warning on the page that the fake site links to.
(you can view it if you go the fake site: www.uknationalemaillottery.com and click on the bar in the middle "to play").
The webhost has also been informed.

Re: Uk Online International Lottery Scam
I managed to find one guy who was involved, well he was a Nigerian but unfortunate that I made a report about this to the Cops but I had no evidence, But the real culprit is still at large.
It is a frank advice to all, Be careful, once you loose money in this way don`t even think that you will get it back even there is FBI there to help you. ItS JUST USELESS.
Thanks to you that site is closed now.

Re: Uk Online International Lottery Scam
I have just recently received emails of this nature from overseas aswell and am in the processes of trying to gather as much info as i can on them. I have already contacted the authorities and am sending all the info to them so they can start an investigation. While the people im dealing with in email form only havent yet asked me for money they have insisted in me giving them all my personal information that the gov't,bank or credit companys use to identify me. If i have in fact won money why does the company need to know my next of kin, my occupation and even scarier my annual income for a lottery winning? Atlantic lottery never asks me for any of that when i hand them a winning ticket. If we can all get together n sumbit info proof to the authorities maybe these scammers will get what they should.

Re: Uk Online International Lottery Scam
DON"T BE SO GULLIABLE!!!!!!!!! REMEMBER IF IT SOUND TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE SOMEONE IS TRYING TO SCAM YOU.
FYI to some replies posted here regarding this scam and many others...These people want to get you all excited about the possibility of some financial windfall and then hope you are gulliable and desperate enough to fall for it and give out vital information about yourself...your bank account information, social security # or anything else they can use to commit a financial crime... DON"T MAKE THAT MISTAKE, it will be a nightmare to try and clear up and these heartless scammers will more than likely get away with it and you end up the big loser while they are enjoying your money! Don't ever pay for fees (except of course our our wonderful taxes) obtaining you "winnings"...if you have to pay for someting you won you didn't win!
I recieved the same email on 03/04/06...when I get obvious scammers sending email, if I have time I keep sending emails back asking all kind of stupid questions so they keep wasting their time replying, or if I don't have the time to screw with them I just send an email back telling them to take me off their scamming email list!

Re: Uk Online International Lottery Scam
Fake documents are very easy to make! Did you buy a ticket for this lottery? If you didn't, you can't have won. Trust me, it's a scam - if you get in touch with them, they will ask you for fees before you can collect your "prize" - it is illegal for a real lottery to do this.

Saved you from three scams? You mean to say that if you hadn't stumbled onto this site you would have sent money to three different foreign countries?

Re: Uk Online International Lottery Scam
Hi, i'm from Mexico city and last week i received this kind of mail, i answeared back and gave them the usual information. I got suspicious, i search on the web and found this thread. It just confirms what i was expecting, i mailed them asking why they don't use an e-mail from the worldcourier.com domain, or why the "prize image" they sent me was very unprofessional... and so, they answear this....
Quote:
Dear Customer,
Your mis-conception and mis-interpretation of the response from the E-mail I sent to you leading to your statement to this office is unacceptable, your mail is honestly considered as an insult to this office and will not be accepted. Your E-mail has been forwarded to the lottery house, and we demand an apology for the insuniations in your E-mail to this office.
We have been an affiliate courier company to the lottery house for over a decade, and we have never recieved such an insultive mail from any client or customer, this is a legetimate process.
It is imperative that you understand the break-down that the parcel went through considering the content enclosed, the insurance cover on the parcel is very important, that's why the charge is like that, I believe you will not like your parcel to be dispatched and do not get to you, the enclosed documents in your parcel are very delicate.
Moreso, it might interest you to know that we are presently in partnership with the British Government in combating internet fraudulent activities, therefore, how then can we have anything to do with such act?
A swift response will be in your favour.
Regards,
Mr. Mark Bishop
