What movies do you like?

I know Lady Mod just started sharing her's in the Spiderman thread, but I'd like to get one started here.

28 Days Later is an awesome, awesome film. That one is in my top five.

I enjoyed The Fortress, Terminator 1 and 2, The Crow, Dark City and various other fiction/fantasy movies. But I'd like to think more about the movies that touched my life.

Requiem for a Dream did. Some movies teach me about how to treat others. Monster was one (which is painful for me to even watch), which was about a prostitute that went on a murder spree for cash. Brokeback Mountain was really helpful. I personally don't think homosexuality is God's intention of how we should conduct our lives, but I far more detest how the church community in general has made that community feel bad, how they've been made into monsters, and how even acts of violence are committed against them. So it is helpful to see those movies like Boys Don't Cry.

A guilty pleasure of mine is Alpha Dog. I thought the acting was actually quite entertaining. Battle Royale and Better Luck Tomorrow were also fun.

Anyway, please do share movies that you like and why you liked them.

Re: What movies do you like?

You just started another non-political thread in the politics forum Ronald.

Geez! That was why I kept my answer on the other thread.

Re: What movies do you like?

"Requiem for a dream" had some of the best acting I've ever seen. Some of my other favorites are "Searching for Bobby Fisher", "Fargo" and "Sling Blade".

Re: What movies do you like?

I'll just rip the movies list off my myspace page:

"repo man, the warriors, city of god, 12 angry men, night of the hunter, lebowski, barton fink (most of that coen bros nonsense), any kubrick, the graduate, sergio leonne westerns, cool hand luke, groundhog day, the burbs, cannonball run, network, thx 1138, caddyshack, road house, halloween, texas chainsaw massacre, 8 1/2, la strada, office space, deathrace 2000, manos: the hands of fate, transformers: the movie, suspiria, george romero, true stories"

I would say my favorite movie ever is 12 Angry Men.

Re: What movies do you like?

I'm big into comedies. For the most part, I don't like chick flicks. My favorite movies are Monty Python & the Holy Grail, Office Space, Somethings Gotta Give, Full Metal Jacket, and Team America: World Police.

Oops. Sorry Ian. Somehow I thought I was talking to lisan. She's only about twenty one and I thought it would take about that long to see all those movies. Forgive me. :D

LOL. My Netflix que is rather long too. I have to restrain myself. And I have hundreds of movies on DVD. I don't like television but I like movies.

I decided that since this thread is taking off I would go get my post off the last one, lol. If you can't beat them, join them, as long as Neocon is not part of their deal.

I like "A Walk in the Clouds". Good chick flick. But I also liked the Harry Potter movies and the Lord of the Ring movies. Eragon was OK, but not as good as the book. A Knight's Tale, The Full Monty, Calendar Girls, Night at the Museum and just about any Wesley Snipes movie, he's a hottie, Flushed Away was better than I thought it would be, 4th of July, the Alien movies, Predator, the list goes on. And I like several of the new movies that recently came out on DVD.

I'm more into Science Fiction than anything else. But a good comedy is great too. Suspense movies are good, I even liked the SAW movies but haven't seen the last one yet. Missed it in the theaters so will have to wait until I can get it on DVD. Hell, it may be out and I'm unaware of it.

The Halloween movies, Texas chainsaw movies, Freddy Krooger movies, Jason movies can all go in the dump. They have all been over done.

Re: What movies do you like?

I'm a sci-fi kind of guy, but unfortunately there are very few sci-fi movies with a plot comparable to even a mediocre sci-fi novel. That said, I'll make one exception for 'Contact', which is my all time favourite movie, followed closely by Ace Ventura (1 & 2) and Blues Brothers.

Also, I see that sojustask is an excessively tolerant admin. If I would create the thread about favourite films in political forum in our local forum, I would get a ban as a gift and in the neck as a bonus from our admins and moderators... :D

No, you can brag about Russian or any other country's movies Bir. I've watched some that had translation, what do that call that? You know? The cheat sentences on the screen so you know what the actors are saying?

But not knowing of many good titles or what they are about I don't watch many.

Excessively tolerant?

I'm crushed. :( I do need to move this to the Chat forum though since it's taking off.
