Clinton in the Top five???

thats right people, according to a recent Gallup poll, William Jefferson Clinton is now being categorized as one of the top five presidents OF ALL TIME!!!

i would think that people are being heavily influenced by the utter stupididty of GWB and therefore are just thinking to themselves "heck, the world and my life was a lot better when the guy before Bush was around", but still, give Billy some credit...

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ucds/2007022...vLnU0Cymn9wxIF

"...as the nation begins another presidential election cycle, polls like the one undertaken by Gallup may be immensely instructive -- not for what they tell us about the public's view of the virtues they see in previous presidents, but for what they tell us about the public's views of the virtues they implicitly seek in future presidents.

On the surface, there's very little that Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan (ranked Nos. 1 and 2, respectively) have in common with Kennedy, Clinton and FDR (who round out the top five)..."

Re: Clinton in the Top five???

Was there ever any doubt? ;)

And who would win for "Worst President Ever"? An online Poll suggests....

James Buchanan: His contempt for abolitionists and refusal to deal with the slavery issue made the Civil War inevitable.
(767) 4%

Warren G. Harding: Looked the other way while his buddies went on a looting rampage of government coffers. He even lost the White House china to corrupt cronies in a poker game.
(301) 1%

Herbert Hoover: Believed federal relief led to corruption, and therefore refused to provide any aid at all when the Great Depression drove millions into poverty and starvation.
(421) 2%

Richard Nixon: Expanded Vietnam War into Cambodia, taped journalists' and politicians' phone conversations, sabotaged opponents and didn't pay his taxes.
(376) 2%

And the winner is.......

George W. Bush: Misled the nation into a disastrous war, fumbled a horrific national disaster, authorized secret wiretaps on civilians, and pissed off the rest of the world.
(13601) 87%

Was there ever any doubt? :D

People don't seem to be able to think back to before their own lifetimes. Probably because they don't even teach anything in history classes now.

Top five what? Disgraced, impeached perjurer, rapist, serial philanderer and enemy appeaser? Top five seller of military secrets to the enemy, top five auctioneers of shameful pardons? Top five weakest in the face of terrorism?

Well, I have to wonder about the part of the population that put them in
power. These are the same people who are hanging to every word spoken
about Anna Nicole Smith and Brittany the Bald!

I would gladly vote to have GW listed as the worst of anything! But then,
I helped put him. At least I can learn from my mistakes. :D

Re: Clinton in the Top five???

Lets see this poll in 100 years. I have a sneaky suspicion that Bush wont even make the list then. And neither will Clinton.

That was kind of my point. Being that the general public is pretty fed up with Bush right now, its only natural to sit back and think "hey, that guy we had before is looking pretty darn good right about now".
That being said, I think Clinton was great for us all. Terrorism is not even close to the things I beleive are most important, and even if it was, Bush certainly has not proven he can handle it.

What do you mean "top five what?", top five best presidents. It says it in the article.

Its a Gallup poll, not the word of god. Its only the general publics opinion, or at least of the people polled.

Where do you get "rapist" from?

From a strictly literal viewpoint.....

A position of authority can be a contrivance of rape. How much more "authority" is there? Anywhere? In the World? Just because the charge wasn't pursued, doesn't mean it couldn't have happened. The statute of limitations has expired, so it's moot. Guess the MSM missed that trial.

That was the point. The position of authority does not have to be implied. Express intent works in court. But....you still need a victim.

I agree with you, though (I think I got your point). Once one is above reproach, one is always the victim.

I don't think it's off topic. It was brought up as part of an argument supporting/refuting the topic. The topic, IMO, is entertaining at best.

GeneralTsoGood and the rest of his buddies are staunch Kool-aid drinking 19 per centers who believes all the BS the GOP spin machine filters down to them and makes sure they stay on message. This is normal for anyone who belongs to a cult. They are recruited because they have a very narrow view of the world with an irrational need to feel superior and the cult leaders make sure they keep it that way. You'll never hear a single word of criticism regarding any of those child molesting, two-three times married adulterers and crooks in their party. Ever see them say anything regarding Gingrich? Cunningham? Delay? Bush/Cheney cooking up the reason for invading Iraq? Cheney committing treason and having Plame, a covert CIA agent who was investigating Iran's nuclear programs, outed? Libby? Nope, when it comes to those crooks on their side all you hear from them is the crickets chirping. I have my criticisms regarding Clinton and can look at the man as less than perfect but let's be honest, when you compare him to Bush it's so painfully obvious that there isn't any comparison. My conservative Republican boyfriend saw Clinton on Dave Letterman one night. I found his comment interesting "That man is so intelligent he scares me". Guess that's why so many conservatives hate him and love Bush so much. Bush makes just about anyone look like a genius.
I think the "rapist" part comes from a lawsuit Jennifer Flowers brought against Clinton. I think it was settled out of court. It was well known in Arkansas that ole' Bill was a skirt chaser but so long as he did his job as governor no one complained. What he did with Lewinsky was stupid but considering that Gingrich at the same time was committing adultery with his soon to be third wife while married to his second wife, their criticism is largely hypocritical. It's just a means to distract you from looking at the dirty laundry stinking up their closets.
