Re: Sea Level Continues Its Historic Decline

Mumbles you should teach a course on how to cherry pick data.

This is information from a lone source and the literally exagerated a 1.0cm change to extremes. You are also trying to mesaure ocean level from ORBIT and ignoring billions of surface based insterments.

Over a 3 year period. What happend to the other 50.

Oh, and if it's not to much trouble. Could you possibly link to the relative information at the Envisat website?

envisat.esa.int

That is where the information is coming from, correct?

Re: Sea Level Continues Its Historic Decline

have gave the source and then i guess he made the graph himself. i looked at the source numbers and they seem to agree with the graph. if you have some conflicting data, this is the place to post it.

i live near the beach and can report that we haven't had to jack up the building to keep it out of the sea.

Re: Sea Level Continues Its Historic Decline

Oh, he gives a link alright.

This one; ftp://ftp.aviso.oceanobs.com/. Of course these are just the raw measurements. And they do not match what the 'real-science' graph shows. Besides, that information only goes back to 2003. The full raw data list can be found at ftp://ftp.aviso.oceanobs.com/ and goes back to 1993.

Unfortunately (well for you anyway), that information comes from this article;

www.aviso.oceanobs.com/en/news/ocean-indicators/mean-sea-level/
Quote:
Mean Sea Level rise

The global mean level of the oceans is one of the most important indicators of climate change. It incorporates the reactions from several different components of the climate system. Precise monitoring of changes in the mean level of the oceans, particularly through the use of altimetry satellites, is vitally important, for understanding not just the climate but also the socioeconomic consequences of any rise in sea level.

With the satellite altimetry missions, the global mean sea level (GMSL) has been calculated on a continual basis since January 1993. 'Verification' phases, during which the satellites follow each other in close succession (Topex/Poseidon--Jason-1, then Jason-1--Jason-2), help to link up these different missions by precisely determining any bias between them. Envisat, ERS-1 and ERS-2 are also used, after being adjusted on these reference missions, in order to compute Mean Sea Level at high latitudes (higher than 66įN and S), and also to improve spatial resolution by combining all these missions together. In addition, permanent monitoring of quality during the missions (Calval) and studies of the necessary corrections of altimetry data regularly add to our understanding and knowledge (see the Processing and corrections applied to each mission to obtain the reference mean sea level).

Does the original information for the graph and the article for it count?
