Majoring In MLM?

What are everyone's thoughts on Bethany College in Lindsborg, KS adding Network Marketing to their college curriculum?

To read about it, check out their website here:

Excellent reason not to take anyone who graduates from there seriously!

Re: Majoring In MLM?

I can only imagine how sanctimonious a person with a MLM degree would be. "Trust me, this one is different than all the others. I would know, I majored in MLM for Pete's sake!"

Re: Majoring In MLM?

Excellent thread b-man, thanks for that!
Looks a worthy course, lets hope it spreads to other colleges and countries, and another nail in the coffin for the fools on here who believe all MLMs/network marketing is a scam.

Interesting find!

I hope it takes, does well, and starts a trend, to be perfectly honest! MLM certainly deserves the positive exposure to be sure!

I can't wait for the rest of the goons & cynics here to see this to chime in with their negative "everything that has to do with MLM is evil" spin, ... blah, blah, blah....

Re: Majoring In MLM?

I'm guessing the section of that textbook that deals with business ethics is a very short chapter.

What happens when other colleges begin offering similar courses of study?

Re: Majoring In MLM?

Apparently this college is one of the top 50 private colleges in the mid west.

Very embarrassing for those with ''all MLMs are scams'' tendencies.

Contrary to popular opinion on this board, people can be counted on to make intelligent decisions.

I've had network marketing as part of a course when I went to uni. It was nothing like the scams we see running now days, it had the focus on how to get people/organizations of different skills to work together and there was no membership fee, auto ship, recruitment or BS like that discussed. But when a (to me) unknown college has a course like this I'm inclined to believe they have it to attract a certain type of student. The same type that join MLM's, gift scams and the like.

Re: Majoring In MLM?

To me, the terms MLM and Network Marketing are synonymous, even though the term MLM is not mentioned in the article.

Article quote:
"
Network marketing is an emerging business model that is under-represented in business education."

Re: Majoring In MLM?

I can't help but wonder if the college offers the course at wholesale if you bring a friend and they bring a friend?

Do you think they have a residual course where for just "just $25 a month" they will give you free classes online forever?

Or you could just stay home and have them autoship the coursework to you each month.
