Traverus - Does it work... Is it a Scam

Hi All

I do not wish to start off yet an other thread on Traverus, however since I read most of the threads and most of them are quite old I would like to have maybe fresher information.

I am not looking for answers in the network marketing part, as I personally do not like such buisiness models as people are building income by selling false hopes of financial freedom to other people who in turn do the same...

I'm more interested in the travel agency side of the buisiness.. what are the real benefits... does it work etc....

I have tried some searches using their website and it turned out that i got cheaper deals than what i've recently paid for a trip. However what is the income that one would make... is it worth it?

regards

1. Yes. The rates available through Traverus are very competitive with the rest of the travel industry.

2. If I read your post correctly you are asking about actually being a travel agent through traverus. You can make money booking travel but it is far from easy. The math of travel makes it difficult and is one of the reasons traditional agents leave the business.
Commissions in travel average about 7%. Some are as high as 10% or a bit more and others are 5% or slightly lower. Of that as the rep you get 70-80%. On a $100 hotel room you are going to make about $5.60. You need to book $1,000 a month to break even.
Airlines don't pay commissions! You can book a $1000 plane ticket and you will not get paid. Plane tickets are offered solely or customer convenience and to keep them from taking their business somewhere else.
Cruise lines pay some of the higher commissions in the industry and to do this as a travel business that is where you can actually make some pretty good money.

If you like to travel Traverus has evolved to more of a travel club and have some pretty good member specials that can offset the monthly membership fees.

If all you want is a website that people can book travel with then look at the Travelocity affiliate program. It doesn't cost anything to be a member and you get paid a commission on what gets booked through it.

If you do want to be a "travel agent" there are worse programs than traverus to get started through. Remember to get actual credentials you have to book a minimum amount of commissionable travel and take training classes.

The other question is travel a good business to be getting into right now? The industry revenues are way down. Traditionally travel is one of the first sectors to go down in a recession and the last to recover. Just something to think about.

7%? You must be a Traverus agent to be so misinformed about commissions paid to a professional travel agent. And, business is just fine right now.
ps Airlines do pay commissions. Cruises pay, but pay poorly unless you are booking Crystal et all.

Re: Traverus - Does it work... Is it a Scam

Thanks for the information. Well as i thought if one wants to make money out of this one would have to spend lots of time and effort.. not easy money as they say ... basically it needs to be a fulltime job if you want to do a decent income out of it...

ok there is the network marketing part but i do not like that part of the buisiness, spoke to some reps and they are constantly phoning in every couple of days asking me when i am going to join in... sure enough they want my money so that they get a commision.

Thanks for the tip of travelocity.. will look into that...

Regards
